The pastor and congregation of Atmore First Baptist Church invited all to a prayer meeting Wednesday, April 1. In light of social distancing guidelines, everyone who came stayed in their vehicles while church members offered prayers at microphones stationed on the ground level and on the balcony.
Pastor Kevin Garrett began and ended the service with prayer. Billy Farr led singing – “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” and “Amazing Grace.”
During the service, different segments of society were lifted up:

  • Schools – Steve Lancaster
  • Businesses – Eric Stuart
  • City – David Ragan (“Keep Your hand of protection upon us.”)
  • County – Rob Lindell
  • State – David Walker (Prayer for “guidance, wisdom in finding a cure. Be with Governor Ivey … Help us recover from this tragedy.”)
  • Nation – Bobby Davis (“Thank You for all those in the private sector who have stepped forward … Thank you for the builders who are building hospitals.”)
In his closing prayer, Pastor Garrett said, “Thank You for those gathered here tonight … I pray we never lose our perspective of living the eternal while living in the temporary.”
