Second Torrence signs with Bama

Northview (Dothan, Ala.) High student Jaala Torrence recently signed a softball athletic scholarship with the University of Alabama.
Torrence, a 5’8” pitcher, first committed to the University of Alabama in 2017.
Her father, Jeff Torrence, a graduate of Escambia County High School in Atmore signed with the Alabama Crimson Tide football team as a linebacker. He was a member of the 1992 championship team and played with the University of Alabama from 1992 to 1995.
Following in her father’s footsteps, Jaala Torrence will be the next family member to earn her place in the UA athletic ranks.
Torrence is an honor student, was named to 1st Team All-State in 2016, 2017 and 2018, honored as a Dothan Alabama eagle Super 12 in 2017 and 2018 and played volleyball, basketball and softball.
Torrence completed an ERA of 1.16, averaged 13 strikeouts per 7 innings, pitched 2 no-hitters and had a club ERA of 0.89 for the summer.
Torrence has averaged 332 strikeouts in 189 2/3 innings.
She is the granddaughter of Dr. Marian Torrence and great-granddaughter of Coach Cornell and Marvis Torrence of Atmore.
