Ms. Callie Thames, 88, of Atmore (Freemanville) Ala., passed at Select Specialty Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

David Lee Wilson
Dr. David Lee Wilson, age 73, of Boaz, AL, passed away October 2, 2019 at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. He was a native of Atmore, AL and a 1964 graduate of Escambia County High School, active in sports and Student Council President. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 26. He received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Birmingham Southern College.
He attended graduate school at the University of Florida, prior to being drafted into the US Army. David was on active duty in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971 and was awarded two Bronze Stars. He earned his masters and doctorate degrees from the University of Alabama. He began his career teaching science in Marshall County, AL at Boaz Junior High and taught school at Boaz High School for 12 years. David was an instructor at Snead State Community College for 20 years and served as Athletic Director from 1987 to 2003. He was also on the executive committee of the Alabama Junior College System and was a nominee as a Chancellor’s Academic Award finalist. In 2000, he was honored as Boaz Citizen of the Year. For ten years he owned and operated Second Serve, a Tennis Shop in Boaz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Eugenia Wilson; son, Wesley Scott Wilson; sister, Nancy Ann Wilson.
Dr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Mary Lynne Wilson; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Page Wilson-Lyons and R. G. Wilson-Lyons of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Nina Katharine Wilson-Lyons and Mary Julian Wilson-Lyons; sisters, Linda (Ed) Crews of Pensacola, FL, and Susan (Barker) Stein of Fairhope, AL.
A memorial service was held October 6, 2019 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Boaz, AL with Rev. R. G. Wilson-Lyons, Mary Page Wilson-Lyons and Rev. Joey Smith officiating.
Donations may be made to Boaz High School Tennis Team, Sardis High School Tennis Team or Snead Tennis Team.

Clifford Wayne Stacey
Lt. Col. Clifford Wayne Stacey (U.S. Army Retired), age 76, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at his home in Gulf Shores, Ala. He was a native of Atmore, Ala. He was a 1961 graduate of Escambia County High School, Auburn University (bachelor’s degree in business administration), Butler University (master’s degree in business administration) and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. He has a long-established military service record. He served as leadership instructor in U.S. Army schools, numerous Army task forces and retired from active duty in 1991 with over twenty-five years of service. He was a life member of the American Legion Gulf Shores Post 44 for more than 20 years and held officer roles locally, state and nationally, to include Department Commander in 2014-2015.
Additionally, he’s a member of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron No. 44, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7016 in Atmore and other disabled and Vietnam Veterans organizations. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gulf Shores.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Alice (Kearley) Stacey.
Lt. Col. Stacey is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Donna K. (Richey) Stacey; five adult children, Amber Stacey (Andrew Hammerdorfer), Ashle Kazman (Steve), Shannon Stacey, Stephen Stacey, Stephanie McGhee (Dale) and nine grandchildren, Ethan Kazman, Carter Kazman, Zachary Kazman, Ashton Kazman, Copper Vibbert, Megan McGhee, Andrew Clemmons, Ashlynn Clemmons, Aundrea Gates; his brother, Joe Burl Stacey.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 11, 2019 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Gulf Shores.
The family received friends Friday, October 11, 2019 at 10 a.m. until service time.

Janet Hayles Fleming, age 59, of Loxley, Ala., passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019 in
Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Atmore, Ala. to the late William Jefferson “Nub” and Betty Turberville Morris. She was employed in banking as a Proof Operator.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ms. Fleming is survived by two sons, Kevin (Nicole) Hall of Loxley and William Matthew (Mandy) Hayles of Lillian, Ala.; one, brother, Jeff (Margie) Morris of Prattville, Ala.; three grandchildren, Michael Hall, Hadleigh Hall, Matthew Hayles.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 14, 2019 at 11 a.m. from Enon Baptist Church, Enon, Ala. Interment will follow in Enon Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 14, 2019 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Enon Baptist Church.

James “Pops” Harrelson
Mr. James “Pops” Harrelson, age 72, passed away Friday, October 11, 2019 in Perdido, Ala. He was a native of Brooks, Ala. and had resided in Atmore, Ala. for the past fifty years. He attended the New Hope Community Church.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Carpenter; son, Robert Flowers; granddaughter, Brittany Nicole Pace; wife, Dottie Boutwell; parents, Leonard and Eva Harrelson and numerous brothers, and sisters.
Mr. Harrelon is survived by his two sons, Malcolm (Cheryl) Harrelson of Perdido and Mikey (Shauna) Harrelson of Atmore; two daughters, Diane Boatwright of Perdido and Susie (Ronnie) Paul of Lottie, Ala.; nine step-children, Janice Styron, Jean (Russell) McGhee, Angelia (Roy) Mosley, Joyce (Glen) McIlwain, Shonda (Eric) Strehl, Donnie Smith, James (Brandy), Jerry (Kim) Smith and Donna Haskew; one sister, Ella Mae McCarter of McKenzie, Ala. and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 3 p.m. at New Hope Community Church with Bro. Malcolm Harrelson and Bro. J.P. Lambeth officiating. Burial followed at Traveler’s Rest Cemetery.

Mrs. Annette Summerlin McGhee, age 76, of Saraland, Ala. passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019. She was born in Brewton, Ala. to the late Ruthie Mae White Summerlin and Leonard Summerlin.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda Kay McGhee; father and mother; brothers, J.C. Summerlin, Glendal Summerlin, and Gladden Summerlin.
Mrs. McGhee is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Robert Gordon McGhee; daughters, Robyn (Joey) Johnson and Rachel McGhee; brother, James (Sue) Summerlin; sister, Jeanice (Boogie) Boutwell; grandchildren, Rodger, Robert, Paul, Baylee, Anniston, Braylen, and Hayden; great-grandchildren, Micah, Tyler, and Karsen and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Mrs. Linda A. Jay Johnson, age 54, of Uriah, Ala., passed away Saturday, October 12, 2019 at her residence. She was a homemaker. She was born in Atmore, Ala. to Jimmy Jay and the late Margaret Jones.
