An Atmore man and two Flomaton residents, including his twin brother, were arrested August 8 on drug possession charges after a traffic stop by Brewton police. The Atmore man was also later charged with bringing drugs into the county jail.
Kenny Shane Johnson, 33, of a Pouncey Road address, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, as are 33-year-old Keenan Shawn Johnson and 31-year-old Leslie Teresa McCann, both of Flomaton.
According to published reports, Brewton PD officers pulled over the car in which the three were riding for an unspecified traffic violation.
Police recovered a clear plastic bag containing “a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine” that one of the three had thrown out the window of the car when the traffic stop occurred.
Since neither of the three admitted to ownership of the meth, all three were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Keenan Johnson was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after officers discovered a pipe in his clothes.
Things got worse for Kenny Johnson when jail officers found more meth on his person as the three were being processed into the Escambia County Detention Center. An additional charge of second-degree promoting prison contraband was lodged against him.
An employee of the county jail’s booking and release division reported Monday, August 19, that Kenny Johnson remained in the facility under a $5,000 bond.
