Maggie Pearl Caraway

Ms. Maggie Pearl Caraway, age 15, passed away Monday, April 15, 2019. She was an honor student at Escambia Academy and was elected Freshman Maid in the 2018 Homecoming celebration at school, an honor that brought her great joy. She was born prematurely weighing only 1 lb. and 11 oz. She was a fighter from the very beginning, a characteristic that endeared her to all those around her. Maggie was loved by all who knew her. She was a blessing to her family and a beautiful, gentle soul. Her legacy will be one of faith, kindness and love. She attended McCullough Christian Center.

She was preceded in death by her beloved Papa, John A. McGhee of Poarch, Ala. and grandfather, Robert Dean of Mobile, Ala.

Maggie is survived by her parents, James and Kimberly Dean of Canoe, Ala.; mother, Shelia Marie Caraway of Poarch; maternal grandmothers, Bernice McGhee of Poarch and Shelvia Dean of Mobile.; three brothers, Jon (Malori) Dean, James A. Dean and Mason Dean, all of Atmore; one sister, Miranda (Brandon) Hudson of Atmore; one uncle, Ricky Dean of Uriah; three aunts, Jena (Perry) Duke of Mobile, Brenda (Michael) Johnson of Douglasville, Ga. and Sherry (Ken) Howell of Helena, Ala.; one nephew, Porter James Dean of Atmore; cousins, Olivia (Tip) Morgan, Anna (Sabastian) Collette, Cooper Dean, Spivey Pickens, Nicholas Howell, Anna Dean, Jacey Duke and Sophia Howell and numerous other family members and many friends.

Celebration of her life was held Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 11 a.m. at McCullough Christian Center with Bro. Cornelius Phillips officiating. Burial followed at Judson Creek Indian Cemetery.

The family received friends Saturday, April 20, 2019 from 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at McCullough Christian Center.

Pallbearers were Jon Dean, Mason Dean, James Dean, Nicholas Howell, Cooper Dean and Haden McGill.

Honorary pallbearers were Mal McGhee, Ken Howell, Michael Johnson, Nathan Martin, Ricky Dean and Nelson Martin.

Marjorie Cotton Troutman

Mrs. Marjorie Cotton Troutman, age 87, of Daphne, Ala., passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019 in Robertsdale, Ala. She was born in Brewton, Ala. to the late David and Evelyn Lanier Cotton. She was a retired office manager with Alfa Insurance Company. She was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fredrick Troutman; sisters, Mable Edmiston and Ann Beasley; a brother, John Cotton and a son Fredrick Troutman, Jr.

Mrs. Troutman is survived by two sons, Rick Troutman and Gerry Troutman, both of Milton, Fla.; two daughters, Kathy (Claude) Bryan of Newnan, Ga. and Pamela (Larry) Wiggins of Daphne; three brothers, Robert (Katie) Cotton of Huxford, Ala.; Stacey (Suzanne) Cotton of Covington, Ga. and Gene (JoAnn) Cotton of Atmore, Ala.; nine grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Monday, April 22, 2019 at noon from Oak Hill Cemetery with her brother, Gene Cotton officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Ryan Troutman, Bradley Troutman, Nick Bryan, Michael Bryan, Scott Troutman and J.D. Cotton.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 22, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Clinton Eugene Watson

Mr. Clinton Eugene Watson, age 61, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at a Montgomery, Ala. hospital. He was born in Atmore, Ala. and had been a life-time resident of Escambia County, Ala.  He was employed with Gulf South Marine Transportation as a Tug Boat Captain. He was of the Christian faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Marietta Watson; a son, Clinton Eugene Watson, Jr.; a sister, Emma Smith and a grandson, Logan Gray.

Mr. Watson is survived by his wife of twenty-one years, Chrissie Laster Watson of Brewton; four sons, Clinton Dean Watson of Atmore, Michael Watson of Pensacola, Fla., Shane Watson and Nicholas Laster, both of Brewton; four daughters, Christy Watson, Catrina Watson, both of Castleberry, Ala., Cheyenne Watson of Montgomery, Ala. and Carly Watson of Brewton; one sister, Ann Watson of Castleberry; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced by Craver’s Funeral Home.

Dorothy “Dot” Vickers Faircloth

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Vickers Faircloth, age 91, of Northport, Ala., formally of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Forest Manor Nursing Home.  She was born in Rutledge, Alabama on August 14, 1927 to the late Rev. and Mrs. John Clinton Vickers.

Dot was a long time resident of Atmore. She moved there as a Methodist minister’s daughter, but stayed there after falling in love and marrying Taylor. She loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. When her girls were young, she devoted countless hours to serving as their Sunday school teacher, UMYF leader, PTA president, room mother, and Girl Scout leader. Later in life, nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International teacher’s honorary, the Atmore Library Board, and the Atmore Historical Society. As an Escambia County educator for over 30 years, she influenced countless Atmore youth through her love and vast knowledge of history.  Immediately after graduating from Huntingdon College, she taught at Escambia County High School. The majority of her teaching career was spent as an American history teacher at the Escambia County Junior High School and then at the Escambia County Middle School. She was an excellent cook, who loved to share her cooking with friends and family. She and her husband, Taylor, will always be remembered for the time, love, talents, and energy they gave to their family, their church and their town. We were all blessed by having known and been a part of each of their lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, George Taylor Faircloth.

Mrs. Faircloth is survived by her two daughters, Vicke Faircloth (Walter) Smith of Northport and Keron Faircloth (James) Kyzar of Andalusia, Ala.; three grandchildren, Walter Hamiter (Julie) Smith Jr., Laura Smith (Alex) King, and James Hugh (Lauren) Kyzar IV; six great-grandchildren, Walter Hamiter Smith III, Linda Taylor King, Jack Taylor Smith, Charley Burgin King, James Hugh Kyzar, V, and Bennett Mitchell Kyzar.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church, Atmore, Ala. with Reverend Brennan Peacock, Reverend Tim Trent, and Reverend Diane Everette officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill cemetery. Visitation will follow graveside at the First United Methodist Church.

Active pallbearers will be Elliott Faircloth, Rob Faircloth, Will Chapman, Steve Drew, Jim Johnson, Mark Rodgers, Clint Smith, and Bill Wasden.

Honorary pallbearers will be members the Gamma Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International teacher’s honorary.

Richard Marvis “Teak” Taylor

Mr. Richard Marvis “Teak” Taylor, age 76, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 in Fairhope, Ala. He was born to the late Austin and Callie E. Johnson Taylor. He was a mechanic and had worked for Hendrix Tractor Company, Shell Oil Company and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bobby Taylor; brother, Albert Taylor and grandson Matthew Baisden.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Joyce Whatley Taylor of Atmore; two sons, Jason (Julie) Taylor of Booneville, Ala.; Jimmy Baisden of Brewton, Ala.; a daughter, Wendy (Mitch) Mitchell of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Kenneth (Patsy) Taylor of Huxford, Ala. and Rodney (Joann) Taylor of Uriah, Ala.; one sister, Sheila (Steve) Pugh of Oak Grove, Fla.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 11 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Earl Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in Serenity Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Paul Hinton, Huey Hinton, Rodney Whatley, Randy Whatley, Clinton Pugh and Stevie Pugh.

Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn McBride, Brad Respress, and Justin Taylor.

Patricia Diane Morgan

Mrs. Patricia Diane Morgan, age 62, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 in Atmore, Ala. She was a native of Little Rock, Ark. and had resided in Perdido, Ala. for the past sixteen years. She, loved her pool and activities with her grandchildren. She was employed with Vanity Fair with twenty-two years of service and International Paper Company in Bay Minette, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, Emuel Gerald Morgan and father, Johnny E. Sullivan, Sr.

Mrs. Morgan is survived by her two sons, Kristofor (Leslie) Laird of Perdido and Daniel (Kim) Morgan of Bay Minette, Ala.; one daughter, Melisa (JR) Godwin of Wawbeek, Ala.; two brothers, David (Helene) Sullivan and Johnny E. Sullivan, Jr., all of S.C.; two sisters, Trudy Clanton Rizzo of Vir. and Debbie Foster of S C.; sixteen grandchildren and twelve-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
