EA’s JV boys win state track championship

Escambia Academy’s boys ran away with the 1A-2A State Junior Varsity Track Championship, held at EA’s track on Saturday, April 6. EA’s girls added to the successful meet, just missing a second-place showing in their dual-classification competition.
The Cougars outperformed four other schools from around the state, scoring 192 points and finishing 63 points ahead of the second-place Edgewood Academy to capture the state title.
The EA girls scored 89 points and were separated from a second-place finish by just two points, coming in just behind Springwood School (91). Patrician Academy scored 170 points to claim the girls state title.
“We are very proud of our teams,” said Escambia Academy Headmaster Hugh Fountain. “While our school was not awarded MVP honors, it said a multitude about team performance. This was a team victory.”
