Dorothy Ward Bell

Mrs. Dorothy Ward Bell, age 91, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, March 18, 2019

in Century, Fla. She was a homemaker. She born in Harlingen, Texas to the late Otis Merritt and Lizzie Petty Ward. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Nellie B. Ward; husband,

Lewis Dewitt Bell, Sr.; son, Lewis Dewitt Bell, Jr; brother, Ray Ward; sister, Carmeleita Baldwin of McDavid, Fla.

Mrs. Bell is survived by two sons, James (Marsha) Bell of Atmore, Craig (Regina) Bell of Eupora, Miss.; one daughter, Cathy (Ricky) Weaver of Atmore; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 1 p.m. from Oak Hill

Cemetery with Rev. Joseph Simpson officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers were James Bell, Craig Bell, Ricky Weaver, Brian Bell, Matthew Bell and Christopher Bell.

The family received friends Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Harding George Fillmore, Jr.

Mr. Harding George Fillmore, Jr., age 65, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, March 18, 2019 in Mobile, Ala. He was a retired from InLand Marine serving as a Tow Boat Captain for many years. He was born in Baton Rouge, La. to the late Harding George and Connie Tennant Fillmore, Sr.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carney Fillmore.

Mr. Fillmore is survived by his wife, of forty-two and one-half years, Paula Halford Fillmore of

Atmore; two sons, Harding George “Cody” Fillmore III of Atmore and Heath (Shane) Fillmore of Bratt, Fla.; two daughters,  Heather Fillmore of Atmore and Hayley (Adam) Dortch of Bratt; one brother, Alfred “Buddy” Wolfe of Atmore; two sisters, Karen Mincher of Covington, La. and Edna (Buddy) Tolbert of Huxford, Ala.;  seven grandchildren, Darren, Brooke, Sydney, Ali,

Trey, Peighton and Carsyn; seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 3 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby

Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Doug Odom officiating. Interment followed in Pine Barren Baptist Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Cody Fillmore, Heath Fillmore, Adam Dortch, Darren McGhee, Trey McGhee and Michael Purvis.

Honorary were Tyler Respress, Josh Lott, Marshell Rolin, Jimmy Brunson, Joey Huggins, Ricky Hill, Reuben Thompson and Larry Barnes.

The family received friends Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 1:30 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Dudley Wilson 

Wilson

Mr. Dudley Wilson, age 57, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at his home in Wawbeek, Ala. He was a native of Atmore, Ala. and had resided in Wawbeek for most of his life. He was a loving and gentle man who had the love of music, playing guitar and fishing. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Swindle; father, Olbren Wilson and sister, Marie Booth.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Wendy Wilson of Wawbeek; two sons, Dudley Flowers of Atmore and Jimmy (Tiffany) Odom of Ponce de Leon, Fla.; one daughter, Katie Odom of Bratt, Fla.; two brothers, Buck Wilson of Crestview, Fla. and Bennie (Cathy) Wilson of Milton, Fla.; two sisters, Jeanette Quick of Pensacola, Fla. and Muriel Philyaw of Atmore; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

There will be no service.

Dean Crary

Mrs. Dean Crary, age 80, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019 at her home in Bluff Springs, Fla. She was a native of Jay, Fla. and had resided in Bluff Springs for most of her life. She retired from Escambia County School System with thirty-five years of service. She was a leader of the 4H Club and was a member of the McDavid United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-nine years, John Crary; parents, Roy and Estell Johnson; two brothers, Willie Ray Johnson and Winford Johnson and one sister, Winnie Rice.
Mrs. Crary is survived by four daughters, Margaret (Jackie) Godwin and Julia Crary, all of Bluff Springs, Fla., Ruth Adams of McDavid, Fla., Mary Alice (Andrew) Johnson of Pensacola, Fla.; one brother, Wayne (Sue) Johnson of Century, Fla.; one sister, Wilhelmina Simmons of Jay; ten grandchildren, Seana, John (Christa), Deanna, Sarah, Hank, Eddie, Matthew, Katie, James and Ben; five great-grandchildren, Alexia, Gracelynn, D.J., Willow and Ivey Jo; caregivers, Iviory Miles and Wanda Wright; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. David Cook officiating. Burial followed at Crary Memorial Cemetery.

Levon “Lover” McGhee

Mr. Levon “Lover” McGhee, age 72, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, March 19,
2019 in Pensacola, Fla. He was born in Poarch, Ala. to the late Carlie Dee McGhee.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carlie McGhee Dalrymple; brothers, Lester Dalrymple and Benny McGhee; sister, Mable St. Germain.

Mr. McGhee is survived by Carlee McGhee of Elberta, Ala., Sarah McGhee of Colorado;
three brothers, Leon McGhee of Foley, Ala., Thomas Dalrymple of Tensaw, Ala.,
John Lloyd (Alice) Dalrymple of Opp, Ala.; one sister, Sara Dalrymple and
Danny Rolin of Tensaw, Ala.; three grandchildren, Gracelyn Helton, Camden
Helton, Cambrie McGhee.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. from Atmore Memorial
Chapel with Bro. Bill Stevens officiating. Interment followed in New Home Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Shane Gibson, Jerry Hawkins, Kevin McGhee, Daniel Helton, Wayne McGhee, and Tim McGhee.

Elizabeth Knight

Mrs. Elizabeth Knight, age 73, of Boston, Mass., formerly of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced later by Turner Funeral Chapel LLC.

 

Katie Lee Rudolph

Ms. Katie Lee Rudolph, age 76, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the home of her sister. She was a native of Atmore and attended Escambia County Training School. She was a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church where she served as an Usher. She was employed in retail for many years working at TG&Y and K-mart Department stores.  She was a quiet lady who enjoyed watching TV and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff David Rudolph; her son, Clarence Rudolph; her parents, Eddie, Sr. and Sarah Johnson; one sister, Essie Johnson; two brothers, Roosevelt Johnson and Robert Frances Johnson.

Ms. Rudolph is survived by one sister, Peggy (Vincent) Jones of Atmore; three brothers, Eddie Johnson, Jr., Willie Bruce Johnson, and Jerry Johnson, all of Atmore; one step-daughter, Christy Jones of Pensacola, Fla.; one step-son, Robert Jones of Pensacola; three step-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Isaac Bradley, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 26, 2019 from 2 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Her remains will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

Sherece Shantel Carter

Ms. Sherece Shantel Carter, age 40, of Bay Minette, Ala., passed away Thursday, March14, 2019 in Bay Minette. She was born in Mobile, Ala. to Nathan Roberson and the late Fannie Louise Green Roberson.

She was preceded in death by her mother; her maternal grandparents, Zeno and Annie Louise Green; Paternal grandparents, Preston and Ruby Roberson; adoptive grandparents, Willie and Helen Carter; special cousin and friend, Tiffany Green along with a host of aunts and uncles.

Ms. Carter is survived by two sons, Mictavious Green and Omariion Williams; daughter, Dakyla Atchison of Bay Minette; four brothers, Nathan Roberson, Jr., Jerald Roberson, Larry Mitchell and Jamie Lee Ross, Jr., all of Mobile, Ala.; two sisters, Tenavia Roberson and Tiffany Lumas, both of Mobile; father, Nathan (Miss) Roberson of Mobile; ten aunts; nine uncles; host of cousins and friends; special devoted step-father, Virgil Hollins of Bromley, Ala; devoted Aunt, Waretta Green (Adams) of Bay Minette and devoted cousins, Syreeta Johnson of Houston, Texas.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 11 a.m. at New Jerusalem PHC #2 with Bishop Charles E. Johnson officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Garden, Bay Minette.

Pallbearers were Ambrose Green, Zeno Green III, Shyheim Munnerlyn, Albert Faulkner, Michael Adams, Jr., Barry Thomas, Charleston Gandy, and Julius Faulkner.

Flower girls were friends and family.

Keith A. Germany

Mr. Keith A. Germany, age 51, of Castleberry, Ala., passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019. He was born in Detroit, Mich. To the late Wanda Walker-Threatt. He attended Highland Park public school and Romulus Community High School excelling as a student and participating in swimming and basketball. He worked with Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Michigan and T.R. Miller Mill Company and Guyoung Tech plant after moving to Castleberry. He obtained his CDL and worked as a truck driver. He enjoyed coaching the Castleberry little league football team.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Walker-Threatt; grandparents, Annie and Douglas Graham and Dicy and Westley Germany; uncles, David Lee and Douglas Graham, Jr.

Mr. Germany is survived by his father, Dvane Threatt; sisters, Kimberly (Vershaun) Walker –Jones. Keia Walker, Kayra (Carl) Donahoo and Kourtney Walker; nieces and nephews; great niece along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.]

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Church of the Living God with Elder Earl Sanders, Pastor officiating. Interment followed in Second Marietta Cemetery.]

Pallbearers were Shelton Snead, Kyree Walker, Ronell Donahoo, Dvane Snead, Keon Walker and Caleb Donahoo.

Flower attendants were family and friends.

James Benjamin “JB” Bethea

Mr. James Benjamin “JB” Bethea, age 70, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019 in Atmore, Ala.
He was a native of Knoxville, Tenn. and had resided in Atmore for most of his life. He was an avid trucker and racing fan. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Delta Bethea.
Mr. Bethea is survived by his fiancé, Melanie Adams of Atmore; two sons, James (Wendy) Bethea of Rockwell, N.C. and Jason Hicks of Mobile, Ala.; two daughters, Tammy (Jamie) Porter of Southport, N.C. and Jennifer Bethea of Bridgeport, Ala.; two brothers, Dewey Bethea of Atmore and Thomas (Sue) Bethea of Ruskin, Fla.; one sister, Eunice Sutter of Pace, Fla.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Canoe Methodist Cemetery.
