State and local authorities are still trying to determine the cause of a fatal Wednesday afternoon (Feb. 6) collision between a pedestrian and a CSX freight train, just a few yards from fire and police headquarters..
Details are still unclear as to whether the pedestrian, who has not been identified, walked into the train’s path or threw himself under it as it sped past.
The fatal incident occurred around 1:15 p.m. at the railroad crossing just off the intersection of Medical Park Drive and West Nashville Avenue.
Alabama State Troopers are investigating the collision. No further details were available by mid-afternoon.
