The Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama (GSSA) is seeking girls in kindergarten to third grade to join local Girl Scout Troop 8737.
The troop meets on the first and third Monday of every month at 6 p.m., at Grace Fellowship Church.
There is no limit on the number of girls who may join, according to Karlee Shirey, GSSA Marketing and Communications Specialist.
“There are no requirements to be a Girl Scout,” she said, “and there are multiple benefits to joining the Girl Scouts.
“At Girl Scouts, your girl will prepare for a lifetime of leadership, success and adventure in a safe, no-limits place designed for and by girls,” she said.
Girl Scout Leadership Experience is a collection of engaging, challenging and fun activities like earning badges, going on awesome trips, selling cookies, exploring science, getting outdoors and doing community service projects.
“At Girl Scouts, she’ll get to team up with other girls in an all-girl environment to choose the exciting, hands-on activities that interest her the most,” Shirey said. “Along the way, she’ll gain important skills in four areas that form the foundation of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.”
Through Girl Scouts, girls learn about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), outdoors, life skills and entrepreneurship.
“Girl Scouts prepares girls for a lifetime of leadership,” Shirey said. “In fact, being a Girl Scout helps girls thrive.”
