Robert “R. L.” Morris
Mr. Robert “R.L.” Morris, age 83, of Orange Beach, Ala., passed away Friday, December 28, 2018. He was the son of John D. and Avie M. Morris of Bay Minette, Ala. He was a 1953 graduate of Baldwin County High School and a 1957 graduate of Auburn University where he earned a degree in Forestry. While at Auburn, he was a member of the Sigma Pi Fraternity. After graduating from Auburn, he joined the Air Force and later the Air National Guard Reserve. His career as a forester spanned over 50 years. He began with International Paper Company and also worked with Thomas. J. Earle Timber Co., Inc for many years. Later, working as an independent contractor, he appraised and cruised tracts of timber all over South Alabama. He was an avid outdoorsman and a lifelong hunter and fisherman. He especially loved the camaraderie he found in the company of friends. He is known for his love of entertaining and also for being a barbeque legend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. and Avie M. Morris and his grandson, Austin Baker.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife, Barbara Moseley, of Orange Beach; three daughters, Tonya (David) Garrett, Tina (Kimble) Grafton and Tara Morris, all of Daphne, Al.; four grandchildren, Anna D’Olive-Charles, Ali Garrett, Meagan Baker and Katie Grafton; sisters, Louise Beasley of Atmore, Ala. and Johnnie Sharpless of Cantonment, Fla., along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cindy Still officiating. Burial followed in Bay Minette Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were David Garrett, Kimble Grafton, Ronnie Beasley, Donny Beasley, Hooper Matthews and Carl Raley, Jr.

Willie George Lee, Jr.
Mr. Willie George “Junior Lee” and “Gorgeous George” Lee, Jr., age 66, passed away Monday, December 24, 2018 at Atmore Nursing Care Center. He was born in Atmore, Ala. to Novella Lee and the late Willie George Lee, Sr. He attended Escambia County schools. He had worked as a painter at Ingalls Shipyard in Mississippi.
Mr. Lee is survived by his son, Akavia (Coco Michelle) Lee of Moss Point, Miss.; his mother, Novella Lee Johnson of Atmore; siblings, Alexander (Dora) McMillan, Gloria J. Wright, and Linda Lee, all of Atmore, Debbie Ann Jacob and Glenda (Kenneth) Brown, all of Houston, Texas and Willie Clarence Smith of Mobile, Ala; three grandsons and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and Friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Gillead Baptist Church – Atmore (Freemanville Community) with Rev. Gary Bryant – Pastor and Pastor Darlene McMillan – Eulogist. Interment followed in Pierce Rabb, & Montgomery Cemetery.

Mr. Jack Darby, age 75, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019
in Atmore, Ala. He was a machine operator with Vanity Fair Mills. He was born
in Monroe County, Ala. to the late George Washington and Fannie Mae Manning Darby.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Dorothy Clara Reaves and
James Alford Darby.
Mr. Darby is survived by his wife, Sheri Hendrix Darby and a daughter, Deeya Darby
(Silas Dwayne) Seamans, all of Atmore; two grandchildren, Darby Madelyn Locke and Dillon Dewayne Seamans; two brothers, Ralph Darby of Davisville, Fla. and William Thomas (Jackie) Darby of Walnut Hill, Fla.; one sister, Annette Hassebrock of Bratt, Fla.

Mrs. Betty Kyser Pruett, age 71, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018 at her home in Atmore, Ala. She was in Atmore to the late James Edlow and Augustine P. Kyser.

Terrell Hobson Mason
Mr. Terrell Hobson Mason, age 85, of Huxford, Ala., passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 in Pensacola, Fla. He was a school teacher. He was born in Uriah, Ala. to the late Culver Hobson and Estelle Wood Mason. He was a graduate of J.U. Blacksher, Livingston University, President of Sigma Delta Sigma at Livingston, a Master’s Degree from Ball State University. He was in U.S.M.C. during 1951-1954: U.S. Army Paratroops during 1955-1957 and retired from U.S.A.F. in 1977. He was a Deacon at Talavana Baptist Church and a member of Huxford Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wendell Mason and a sister-in-law, Danie Mason.
Mr. Mason is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Linda Kay Purnell Mason of Huxford; two brothers, Alex (Emma) Mason of Pensacola; Bill (Lucy) Mason of Decatur, Ala.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Boyd and Bro. Jesse Wood officiating. Interment followed in Uriah Cemetery.

Mazie Glendora “Glennie” Griffith Godwin
Mrs. Mazie Glendora “Glennie” Griffith Godwin, age 86, of Foshee, Ala., passed away at her home Thursday, January 3, 2019. She was born near Atmore, Ala. As a young adult she helped build the Pentecostal Holiness Church and ordered lessons to teach herself to play the piano at church services. She was also a member of the Pineview Pentecostal Holiness Church, an avid seamstress, a talented artist, and loved to grow flowers around her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cora and Joseph Griffith; all of her sisters, Louverne Etheridge (Buddy), Ruth Lessard (Bernard), Grace Fuller (Joe); brother, Leslie Griffith and sisters-in-law, Porcia Leah Pettis (C.M.), and Geneva Kraemer (Ozzie).
Mrs. Godwin is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Robert Godwin; two daughters, Sharon Lisenby (Wayne) and Patricia Stepherson (Mike); two grandsons, Clayton Lisenby and Troy Stepherson; one brother, Tommy Griffith (Betty); sisters-in-law, Delray Dewberry (L.J.), Johnnie White (Pete), Juanita Parker (Ed), Delores Baggett (Edwin), Margie Griffith (Leslie), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Pineview Pentecostal Holiness Church in Pineview, Ala. with Bro. James Peacock officiating.

Sally Ann Lambeth Gibson
Mrs. Sally Ann Lambeth Gibson, age 71, of Dixon Nursery Road, Brewton, Ala., passed away Sunday January 6, 2019 at her residence after a brief illness. She was a native of Atmore, Ala. and a life-long resident of Brewton. She was of the Baptist faith. She was employed by the Flomaton School System and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Gibson and daughter, Tracey Lynn Sessions. Mrs. Gibson is survived by her mother, Wilma Lee Powell of Flomaton, Ala.; two sons, Randy Gibson of Flomaton and Timmy Gibson of Brewton; two brothers, Raymond Lambeth and Terry (Brenda) Powell, all of Flomaton; two sisters, Linda Kay Miller and Debbie Powell, all of
Flomaton; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren.

Ruby Lee “Madea” Mims-Brown, age 87, of Evergreen, Ala., passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018. She was born in Owassa, Ala. to the late Isaiah and Dora Brooks-Mims. She was a member of 2nd Mt. Zion Baptist until she relocated to Marion, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her bothers, Isaiah, Jr., Tommy Lee, Zachariah, Moses, Willie J. and David Mims; sisters, Lucille Dickerson and Sallie Mae Watkins; daughter, Rebeca Wright and grandson, David Wright, Jr.
Ms. Brown is survived by her daughters, Christine Carter and Dora Bell Hawthorne, both of Marion; two sons-in-law, Tommy Carter of Marion and David Wright, Sr. of Evergreen; grandchildren, Robert Wright, Daisy (Eric) Wright-King, Tondalayo Carter, Shamonica Darden and Tean Carter; twenty-two great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Erica (Edward) Stallworth and Dorothy Jackson, all of Evergreen, Ala., Susie Mixon of Huntsville, Ala., Luella Mims-Ellis of Clearwater, Fla. and Ceenie Smith of Georgiana, Ala.; host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

Mr. Sam Hudson, age 76, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018. He was born in Gosport, Ala. to the late Willie and Victoria Hudson. He was employed by West Escambia Utilities.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Hudson; brothers, Louis Hudson and Cecil Hudson; sisters, Willie Mae Harris and Mary McCoy.
Mr. Hudson is survived by his wife, Margaret Hudson; daughters, Shelia (Kenneth) Richardson of Louisville, Ky., Angela Hudson of Montgomery, Ala., Tammy Andrews of Frisco City, Ala. and Mitchell (Mickey) McMillan of Excel, Ala.; step-children, Natalie (Darrell) Coates of Atmore, Paula Logan of Atlanta, Ga. and Suna (Nicki) Jackson; sisters, Minnie Hudson of McCullough, Ala., Barbara Hudson of Indianapolis, Ind. Joanne Lewis
Mrs. Joanne Lewis, age 64, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Mobile Infirmary Hospital in Mobile, Ala. She was born to Eddie Lee Banks and Roxie Lee Hartley in Atmore, Ala. She was a devoted and anointed woman of God who served in the capacity of First Lady and Prophetess of the God House Tabernacle of Deliverance Holiness Church under the leadership of her loving husband, Apostle Marcus Lewis. She was known throughout the states for the strong and anointed voice to sing. She was also a former faithful and reliable employee of Escambia County Transit Systems. In her leisure she loved reading God’s Holy word, singing and vacationing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie Lee Banks and Roxie Lee Hartley; brother, Johnny Ray Banks; sister, Linda Banks; father-in-law, William Franklin Lewis, Sr.; mother-in-law, Lucile Lewis and brothers-in-law: William Lewis, Joel Lewis, Sr., Willie Frank Lewis and Gary Thomas.
