Honoring Vietnam veterans
Atmore VFW Auxiliary #7016 is hosting the Fifth Annual Vietnam Veterans Day Saturday, March 31, 4 p.m., in the Atmore YMCA. Scheduled guest speakers include U.S. Congressman Bradley Byrne, VFW State Commander Dennis Doherty, and VFW Auxiliary State President Donna Howell. All Vietnam veterans and their families are invited. The event is open to the public.

Suspect, victim identified in Atmore drive-by shooting
An Atmore teen was arrested February 27 by Atmore police and charged with the attempted murder of another teen who was critically injured in a drive-by shooting. According to Escambia County Detention Center records, the shooter – De’Andre Lamar Mitchell, 17, of a Tumbling Lane address – is being held under $100,000 bond on one count of attempted murder. Lions honored for years of service
The Atmore Lions Club had a special meeting Wednesday, February 21. District Governor of Lions Club International Claudia Wigglesworth, Daleville Lions Club, was on hand to present awards for years of service. This year, the local Lions Club celebrates its 90th year.
