In celebration of Johnny Appleseed’s birthday, Perdido Elementary School pre-k, kindergarten, and first grade students read Johnny Appleseed books and other apple books, charted facts they learned about him, and completed fun activities.
Each grade had an apple-taste testing experiment using red, yellow, and green apples and made graphs to show their favorites.
They then discussed and charted the properties of apples such as the color, size, and uses. The extra apples were used to make homemade applesauce!
Students even made “pot” hats and dressed in clothing to resemble what Johnny Appleseed wore.
