Delta Kappa Gamma holds first meeting of the year

First Presbyterian Church of Atmore was the setting for the Gamma Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma to host its first chapter meeting of the year on the afternoon of Thursday, September 13.
Delta Kappa Gamma is an international society for key women educators and promotes professionalism and camaraderie among its members. The Gamma Omega Chapter also sponsors grant-in-aid and scholarships for future educators and current educators, respectively.
Guest speaker for the event was Pat Hall, District VI Director, who updated the members in attendance on upcoming statewide events and reminded them of the goals of Delta Kappa Gamma and the rewards gained from its membership.
Also at the meeting, a devotion was presented by Wendy Stafford and chapter business conducted by Mary Beth Lancaster. In addition, Clara “Sissy” Phillips presented service pins to the following Delta Kappa Gamma members for years of service: Dot Faircloth, 50 years; Leigh Ann Rowland and Jeri Peacock, 10 years; and Hayley Cockrell, Janice Chapman, Connie Hetrick, and Sherry Digmon for 5 years.
Chapter members in attendance were Mary Beth Lancaster, Evelyn Bilbo, Clara Phillips, Wendy Stafford, Trachy Miller, Leslie Sellers, Sherry Digmon, Leigh Ann Rowland, Rebecca Murray, and Nancy Karrick.
