Dorothy “Dot” Barber
Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Barber, age 89, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 in Mobile, Ala. She was a native and life-long resident of Lottie, Ala. She was a member of Lottie Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Alex and Ettie Genell Drew; two sisters, Estelle Dean and Jessie James Criswell and one brother, Onas Drew.
Mrs. Barber is survived by her three sons, Alex Barber of Lottie, Gregory L. Barber of Atmore, Ala. and Rocky S. Barber of Bay Minette, Ala.; one brother, Wilburn Cleo (Mildred) Drew of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Essie Josey and Voncile Drew (Garth) Branch, all of Atmore; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Malcolm Harrelson officiating. Burial followed at Lottie New Home Cemetery.
The family received friends Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Ricky Josey, Darrell Ledkins, Robert Hughes, Steve Whittington, Rodney Boyington and Garrett Chance.

Felix Ray Holland, Jr.
Mr. Felix Ray Holland, Jr., age 51, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018. He served as a member of the National Guard.
He loved to hunt and fish and was a member of Calf-Ford Hunting Club. He also enjoyed working alongside his brother-in-law and friend, Art.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Paul Peterson; grandfather, Walter Esslie Smith; grandparents, Nolan and Beverly Holland; uncles, Kenneth Smith and George Palmer; biological father, Felix Ray Holland, Sr.; brother-in-law, Shane Williams and father-in-law, Morgan Williams.
Mr. Holland is survived by his wife of 32 years, Tammy Holland of Brewton; three sons, Dustin Ray (Laura Leigh) Holland and Gus Sharpe, all of Birmingham, Ala., Seth Ryan (Mercedes) Holland of Brewton; mother, Betty Luverne Peterson of Byrneville, Fla.; grandmother, Luverne Smith Diamond of Flomaton, Ala.; one brother, Michael Paul (Jessica Lynn) Peterson of Westville, Fla.; one half-brother, Jody (Brenda Sue) Johnson of Summertown, Ga.; one sister, Tammy Standifer of Tallahassee, Fla.; three sisters-in-law, Debrah (Art) Dales, Tracy (Jason) Acree and Holly Williams; one brother-in-law, Ashley Collins; seven grandchildren, Kailyn, Addyson, Hunter, Ashlynn, Bella Claire, Aniston and Axel; special friends, Jason, Kelly and Brooks Madden of Brewton and lots of nieces and nephews; many other beloved family members and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 20, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Jake Bondurant and Jeff Salter officiating. Burial followed at Godwin Cemetery.
The family received friends Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Josh Danley, Bug Fisher, Timothy Dales, James Bell, Kevin Bell, Hunter Williams, Coltin Williams, Jeff Salter and Chris Fowler.
Honorary pallbearers were Jayden Dales and Kendall Helton.

Ruby Lee Gillis Barden
Mrs. Ruby Lee Gillis Barden, age 92, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018. She was born to the late Henry Eugene Gillis and Molly Bernice (McGowin) Gillis. She was educated in Andalusia, Ala. where she was involved in school sports as a cheerleader and member of the softball team. She moved to Mobile, Ala. and worked in the supply department at the air base. After many years of traveling with the armed services she and her family re-located in Atmore. She was a member of First Baptist Church serving as Sunday school teacher and played a key role in starting Faith Bible Institute and served as its first director and was an advocate for starting the Awana program. Ruby enjoy bowling and was an active member of a women’s bowling league.
Mrs. Barden is survived by five children, Elwood (Woody) Jr, Becky, Douglas Eugene “Doug”, Debora Diana and Dwight Chris; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and first great-great-grandchild, due next month.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 21 2018 at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Atmore.

Mary E. Watts
Mrs. Mary E. Watts, age 80, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 in Atmore, Ala. She was a native of Massachusetts and resided in Byrneville, Fla. for most of her life. She was of the Catholic faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Watts.
Mrs. Watts is survived by her three sons, Donald Beals of Flomaton, Ala., Mike Beals of Byrneville and James “Jimmy” Castonguay of Baker, Fla; six grandchildren.

Mary E. Mattson
Mrs. Mary E. Mattson, age 86, of Atmore, Al,a. passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018, in Atmore. She was a homemaker. She was born in Monroe County, Ala. to the late Robert and Cora Faircloth Smith. She was a member of the Church of the Living God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Mattson and eight siblings.
Mrs. Masttson is survived by her three sons, Michael (Caroline) Cook of Walnut Hill, Fla., Robert (Jean) Cook of Chicago, Ill. and Paul (Nealia) Cook of Ark.; two daughters, Barbara Karcz of Chicago and Beverly Cook of Port Saint Lucia, Fla.; one sister, Rosie Jean Williams of Elberta, Ala. and brother-in-law, Jim Lynche of Foley, Ala.; special caregiver, Shelby Carraway of Elberta.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 27, 2018 at 1 p.m. from the Church of the Living God in Atmore. Burial will follow in Whitmire Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.

Russell Edward Welch
Mr. Russell Edward Welch, age 92, of McDavid, Fla., passed away Friday, April 20, 2018.
He was born in Riviera Beach, Fla. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bratt. He graduated from Tate High School and later went to work for St. Regis Paper Co. where he worked for forty years, retiring in 1985. He and his wife loved to travel both in the states and abroad, even to his ancestor’s homeland of Ireland. He loved to work in the garden and loved to fish.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Teresa Beatrice Welch; father and mother, Claude and Farabelle Welch; two sisters, Olivia Magness and Eunice Browning and two brothers, Fred and Tommy Welch.
Mr. Welch is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Joe) Brook of McDavid, Fla.; one son, Gregory (Gwen) Welch of Cantonment, Fla.; one grandson, Matthew (Connie) Brook; one granddaughter Jessica Welch of Monroe, La..; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kylie, Gracen Brook and River Welch; one sister, Ruth McNeil of Crestview, Fla.; one sister-in-law Carolyn (Wayne) Milligan of Cantonment and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Delbert Redditt officiating. Burial will follow at Ray’s Chapel Cemetery.

Lilla Parmer Robinson
Mrs. Lilla Parmer Robinson, age 92, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 in Atmore, Ala. She was a native of Huxford, Ala., former resident of Savannah, Ga. (where she spent most of her life) and has resided in Atmore for the past twenty years. She always had a smile for people. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Robinson; parents and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Robinson is survived by her daughter, Deborah Robinson of Dunwoody, Ga. and sister, Annette Corley of Saraland, Ala.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Serenity Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Lung Association.

James “Jimmy” Richard Dixon, II
Dr. James “Jimmy” Richard Dixon, II, age 55, of Travis Road, Brewton, Ala., passed away Thursday April 19, 2018 at his residence. He was a native and life-long resident of Brewton. He was a member of the Jay First Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Jay High School and was a Family Doctor with a practice in Atmore, Ala. with twenty-four years of service.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Pitts.
Dr. Dixon is survived by his parents, Lynn and Ann Burgess Pitts of Brewton; wife, Mitzi Bray Dixon of Brewton; two sons, James Richard Dixon, III of Charleston, S. C. and James Henry Dixon of Brewton; one daughter, Allison Page Dixon of New York, N.Y.; one brother, Daniel Pitts of Fla. one sister, Naomi Pitts of Gulf Shores, Ala.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Jay First Baptist Church, Jay, Fla.

Kenneth Wayne Johnson
Mr. Kenneth Wayne Johnson, age 74, of Stockton, Ala., passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Stockton. He was a Supervisor with the State Docks for fifty-four years, and was a Supervisor for Tri-State Port Authority. He was a member and treasurer of West End Baptist Church. He was born in Century, Fla. to the late Bruce and Mary Loutisia Lambert Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bruce Johnson, Jr.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Margaret G. Johnson and one son, Randy (Pam) Johnson, all of Stockton; one daughter, Rhonda (James) English of Brewton, Ala.; one sister, Linda Whatley of Atmore, Ala.; grandchildren, Kevin (Rebecca) Johnson, Amber Loutisia English, Ryan (Sarah) Johnson, Kenneth English; great-grandchildren, Brook Johnson, Madison Johnson and Macey Johnson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Allen Chace officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hil lCemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be Kevin Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Kenneth English, Allen Jay, Ken Brown and James English.
