The Alger-Sullivan Historical Society and the Town of Century announce a dedication ceremony for the unveiling of a state historic marker recognizing the Alger-Sullivan Lumber Company Residential Historic District in old Century.
The event will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 21, Front Street and Jefferson Avenue.
This is the first state marker placed in north Escambia County (Fla.) since the 1960s. The marker recalls the history of the district and notes its listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
Expected in attendance are residents of the district and members of the society, the mayor and members of the town council and the general public. The dedication will be followed by a small reception at Jones Park on Fourth Street.
