Perdido MS students place in Stock Market Game

Perdido Middle School students once again finished among the top in the state during the 10-week Stock Market Game competition. Eighth graders Justin Brunson, Drew Turner, Ayden Scarborough and Braxton Scarborough finished fourth with final portfolio earnings of $112,479.31. Placing fourth in the state earned the team $75 and SMG drawstring bags.

Students began the competition with $100,000 to invest in stocks, bonds and/or mutual funds. The favorite stocks for Perdido’s winning team were Amazon, 3M, Wolverine Boots and Microsoft.

The core mission of the Alabama Council on Economic Education (ACEE) is to promote and improve economic and financial education for K-12 students in Alabama’s schools. ACEE provides comprehensive professional development, programs, and curriculum resources for teachers in economics, personal finance, and entrepreneurship. In addition, multiple classroom programs for students are offered throughout the state. ACEE delivers curriculum aligned with Alabama State Department of Education standards and graduation requirements. ACEE envisions an Alabama where all its citizens have the knowledge, understanding, and skills to make informed economic choices.
