Bobby Paul “Big Man” Morrison
Mr. Bobby Paul “Big Man” Morrison, age 55, of Frisco City, Ala., passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018, in Monroeville, Ala. He was a truck driver most of his life. He was born in Atmore, Ala. to the late Waymon and Betty Mae Pearson Morrison. He was a member of Crosspoint Church. He was an avid Mule Skinner and enjoyed working around His Farm.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Donald Morrison, Dottie White, W.D. Morrison and Jean Stewart.

Mr. Morrison is survived by his wife, Genie Womack Morrison of Frisco City; son, Waymon Paul (Dana Marcv) Morrison of Frisco City; three brothers, John Morrison of Mobile, Ala., Pete (June) Morrison and Bud (Carolyn) Morrison, all of Bastrop, La.; three sisters, Shirley  (Johnny) Guyton of Atmore, Susie Barbarow of Perdido, Ala., Mary Jackie Barnhill of Mobile; two grandchildren, Waylon Morrison and Gracie Morrison.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 1 p.m. from Crosspoint Church with Pastor J.T. Guyton officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family received friends Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 10 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m.at Crosspoint Church.

Annie Ruth Witkiewicz
Mrs. Annie Ruth Witkiewicz, age 95, of Atmore, Ala., formerly of Pensacola, Fla., passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at her home. She was born in Birmingham, Ala. to Albert and Ochie Daniel Pate. She relocated to Pensacola in 1968 and has lived in Atmore since 2010. She was a Navy wife and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing and traveling and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fleet Reserve. During her retirement years she and her husband traveled extensively in the United States and Europe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund R. Witkiewicz; parents, Albert and Ochie Pate; daughter, Marguerite Dawson and one brother and two sisters.

Mrs. Witkiewicz is survived by her daughter, Marcella Moring and her husband, Wayne of Atmore; grandchildren, Emily Sommer (Monti) of Lakeland, Fla. and Rachel Robinson (Tim) of Dupont, Wash.; seven great-grandchildren, Jackson Sommer, Ella Sommer, Anna Sommer, Piper Sommer all of Lakeland; Elyse Robinson, Madeline Robinson and Frank Robinson, all of Dupont, WA.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 10 a.m., at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Sonny Steele officiating. Interment followed at Barrancas National Cemetery.

The family received friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2017.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Pensacola Humane Society.

Kathryn Lee Reynolds
Mrs. Kathryn Lee Reynolds, age 89, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in Pensacola, Fla. She was a homemaker. She was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. to the late Oliver Eugene and Drusilla Lee Knight. She was a devout Christian.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Ben Reynolds.

Mrs. Reynolds is survived by two sons, Earl (Bobbie) Reynolds and Christopher Allen Reynolds, all of Atmore; two brothers, Comer Knight and Oliver (Connie) Knight, both of Pensacola; two sisters, Ann Wiggs and Lois (Tom) Wright, Sr., both of Pensacola; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 10 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Sonny Willingham officiating. Interment followed in Serenity Gardens.

Active pallbearers were Tom Wright, Jr, Kent Clark, Josh Nichols, David Anderson, Greg Cole, and John Murphy Akins.

Mitzie Forte Pimperl
Mrs. Mitzie Forte Pimperl, age 85, of Bay Minette, Ala., passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in Bay Minette. She was a homemaker. She born in Baldwin County, Ala. to the late Lonnie and Jessie Bryars Forte. She was a member of Perdido Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband John F. Pimperl.

Mrs. Pimperl is survived by four sons, John Pelham (Judy) Pimperl, Timothy Byron (Laurie) Pimperl and Elliot Tremaine (Amy) Pimperl, all of Bay Minette, Loyd Cameron (Marsha) Pimperl of Laurel, Miss.; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 2 p.m. from Atmore Memorial Chapel with Bro. Henry Wilson officiating. Interment followed in Perdido Baptist Cemetery.

Frank Powell Jones
Mr. Frank Powell Jones, age 70, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 at his residence. He was an License Practical Nurse at Fountain Correction facility and later retired from the V.A. Hospital in Gulf Port, Miss. He was born in Monroeville, Ala. to Russell Aubrey and Hazel Louise Quimby Jones.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Aubrey Jones.

Mr. Jones is survived by his mother, Hazel Louise Quimby Jones of Atmore and one brother, Russell Samuel Jones of Butler Street, Ala.

Raymond E. Norris
Mr. Raymond E. Norris, age 98, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 in Atmore, Ala. He was a native of Frisco City, Ala. and had resided in Bratt, Fla. since 1936. He was the caretaker of the Pine Barren Cemetery. He was WWII veteran; member of American Legion Post 90 and VFW Post 7016; retired Correctional Officer Escambia County Florida Road Department.

He was a member of Pine Barren Baptist Church where he served as assistant treasurer.

He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Ruth Norris; daughter, Katie Darby; parents and siblings.

Mr. Norris is survived by his son-in-law, Ralph Darby of Bratt; grandson, James E. Darby of Louisville, Ky.; three great-grandchildren, Amanda Darby and Keri Anne Darby, both of Lackland AFB, San Antonio and Cody Darby of Louisville, Ky.; special niece, Mary Ann Allen of Bratt and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Harper, Rev. C.L. Langford and Chaplin Glenn Wardrop officiating. Burial followed at Godwin Cemetery.

The family received friends Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 10 until service time at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Ethan Allen, Russell Norris, Rodney Norris, Paul Norris, James Jeter and Jimmy McElhaney.

Honorary pallbearers were the VFW-American Legion, Jim Gulsby and Jack Norris.

Bobbie Ann Williams Corey
Mrs. Bobbie Ann Williams Corey, age 74, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at her residence in Mexia, Ala. She was a native of Uriah, Ala. and resided in Mexia for the past thirty-one years. She raised her six daughters by herself. She was a member of Christian Tabernacle Church of Excel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Minnie Lee Williams; grandsons, Jon Daniel Sheets, Russell Ikner and Thomas Williams; two brothers, Albert Williams and Charles Williams; one sister, Judith Williams and son-in-law, Steven Ikner.

Mrs. Corey is survived by her six daughters, Rebecca (Ward) Boutwell of McCullough, Ala., Audrey Lassiter and Darlene Corey, both of Mexia, Sonja Corey of Huxford, Ala., Lila Ikner of Lottie, Ala. and Debbie (Mike) Flowers of Madsion, Ala.; six brothers, Leroy (Merril) Williams of Eliska, Ala., Gene (Betty Ann) Williams of Mineola, Ala., Rev. Theodore “Buddy” (Rosie) Williams of Franklin, Ala., John David (Sue) Williams of Goodway, Ala., Willis (Alice) Williams, Jr. of Mexia and Don (Vicky) Williams of McCullough; three sisters, Louise Gibson of Claiborne, Ala., Orbineze (Charles) Boatwright of Poarch, Ala. and Monteze McMillan of Little River, Ala.; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 8, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Cornelius Phillips officiating. Burial followed at the Poplar Springs Cemetery.

The family received friends Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Travis “Trav” Austin Sessions
Mr. Travis “Trav” Austin Sessions, age 28, of Maple Drive, Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in Montgomery, Ala. He was a native and lifelong resident of Brewton, Ala. He was of the Christian. He was a foreman at Casey Mobile Home Setup. He had a passion for fast cars, dogs and was an avid Roll Tide fan.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Carl, Sr. and Linda; grandfather, Jimmy Brown; brother, Jayce Sessions.

Mr. Sessions is survived by his mother, Christy (Joe) Casey of Atmore; father, Carl (Suzanne) Sessions of Tallahassee, Fla.; one daughter, Lilyan Sessions of Brewton; three brothers, Christian Madden of Atmore, Kendall Land of Jacksonville, Fla., Jordan Land of New Orleans, La. two sisters, Peyton Madden and Addison Casey, both of Atmore; grandparents, Gail (John) Goolsby of Brewton.

The family received friends Monday, January 8, 2018 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Brewton.

Christopher Nolin DeFee
Mr. Christopher Nolin DeFee, age 36, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 in Mobile, Ala. He was a native and life-long resident of Atmore, Ala. He was a member of the New Beginnings Ministry.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Betty Jay DeFee and grandfather, Calvin Nolin DeFee.

Mr. DeFee is survived by his mother, Darlene DeFee of Atmore; one son, Christopher Michael “Mikey” DeFee of Atmore; one sister, Kayla Miranda Smith of Atmore; aunts, Donna DeFee, Dianne Godwin and Tammy Smith; uncle, Calvin Gregory and cousins, Carria LeaAnn DeFee, Chasity Johnson, Jason Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Dustin Smith and Tiffany Wiggins.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Thurl Pearson officiating. Burial followed at Rocky Hill Cemetery.

Lena Byrd
Mrs. Lena Byrd, age 73, of Huxford, Ala., passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 in Mobile, Ala.

She was a homemaker. She was born to the late Frank Wallace and Mandy Heathcote Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jimmy B. Byrd, Sr. and four brothers.

Mrs. Byrd is survived by one son, James “Jimmy” Byrd, Jr. of Atmore, Ala.; two daughters, Ann Johnson and Louise Johnson Brown; one sister, Maxine Johnson Welch of Rabon, Ala.; six grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. from Sullivan Cemetery with Sis. Helen Stewart officiating. Interment followed in Sullivan Cemetery.

Gilbert Lee Crenshaw
Mr. Gilbert Lee Crenshaw, age 57, of Philadelphia, Pa., formerly of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Shiloh Cemetery (Nokomis).

Miss Shirley Ann Norman, age 55, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, January 1, 2018.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church (Freemanville) with Rev. Michael Wilson, Pastor, officiating.

Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery.

Effie Lee Caraway Jeter Cumbie
Mrs. Effie Lee Caraway Jeter Cumbie, age 87, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at her resident in Uriah, Ala. She was a native of Booneville, Ala. and resided in Uriah most of her life. She was a member of the Uriah Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nettie Caraway; first husband, Joe Jeter; second husband, Willard Cumbie; two sons, Danny Eugene Jeter and John Edwin Jeter and one daughter, Patsy Rena Cumbie Taylor.

Mrs. Cumbie is survived by her four children, Leon Earl Jeter of Freemanville, Ala., Sherry Jeter Buckhault of Atmore, Ala., Cheryl Ann (Joseph) Matthews of Repton, Ala. and Marilyn Cumbie Peavy of Uriah; one sister, Frances Bryan of San Antonio, Texas; sixteen grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Whittington officiating. Burial followed at Uriah Cemetery.

Esther “Granny” Benson
Mrs. Esther Benson, age 85, of Flomaton, Ala., passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at West Florida Hospital, Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Conecuh County, Ala. to the late Holly and Daisy Hawthorne.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willie Benson, Sr.; three sisters and four brothers.

Mrs. Benson is survived by four daughters, Janice Ware, Annie Jones, Jackie Benson and Willie (Jeffrey) Spears, all of Brewton, Ala.; two sons, Willie Benson, Jr. and Tommy (Karen) Benson, both of Flomaton; two sisters in law, Minnie (Robert Ala) Price of Flomaton and Mary Matthews of Brewton, Ala.; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Fannie Cemetery, Old Fannie Rd., Flomaton, with Pastor Sylvester Hawthorne officiating pastor. Interment followed in Fannie Cemetery.

Pallbearers were her grandsons.

Sterling “Huck” Wayne Let
Mr. Sterling “Huck” Wayne Lett, age 69, of Huntsville, Ala., passed away Friday, December 20, 2017. He was born in Evergreen, Ala. to late Elbert and Pycolia Lett. He was educated in Evergreen at Conecuh County Training School and at Troy State University receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree. He was a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam for which he received a Vietnam Service Medal, Silver and Bronze Star. He achieved Jumper Master.

He was employed for the Alabama Department of Revenue in Huntsville for twenty-three years.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at noon at Pleasant Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, Evergreen with Dr. Dorothy Davis, Pastor and Pastor Johnny W. Woods, officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers were his nephews and cousins.

Flower bearers were his nieces and cousins.

Cleo Bolar
Mr. Cleo Bolar, age 67, of Atlanta, Ga., formerly of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Wellstar Hospital in Douglasville, Ga.
