Vernell K. Tims
Mrs. Vernell K. Tims, age 87, of Oak Grove, Fla., passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in Atmore, Ala. She was a homemaker. She was born in Holland Town, Fla. to the late John P. and Carlie Garrett Kimbro.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Earl Kimbro, Howard Kimbro, Nathan Kimbro and Walter Kimbro and a sister, Elma Ezel.

Mrs. Tims is survived by her husband, Byron D. Tims of Oak Grove; two sons, Dale Tims of Virginia Beach, Va. and Clark (Debra Roley) Tims of Robertsdale, Ala.; one daughter, Michelle Helton of Walnut Hill; one brother, Enzor (Edna Earl) Kimbro of Pensacola, Fla.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. from Oak Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Butch Brown officiating.

Barbara Holley Dunsford
Mrs. Barbara Holley Dunsford, age 71, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in Pensacola, Fla. She was a native of Defuniak Springs, Fla. and has resided in Bluff Springs, Fla. for the past fifty-two years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend to everyone and loved the Lord with all her heart. She retired from Bratt Elementary School with over thirty years of service. She was a member of the Faith Bible Baptist Church serving as a Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ethel Holley and a sister, Brenda Strength.

Mrs. Dunsford is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Clifton Dunsford of Bluff Springs; one son, Chris (Sherry) Dunsford of Bluff Springs; one daughter, Becky (Jamie) Cobb of Bluff Springs; two brothers, Ricky (Sherry) Holley of Luverne, Ala. and Gary (Becky) Holley of Jay, Fla.; four sisters, Kathy Johnston of Century, Fla., Faye (Donald) Godwin of McDavid, Fla., Tami (Freddie) Calloway of Byrneville, Fla. and Carolyn Hendrieth of Pensacola, Fla.; four grandchildren, Marc Dunsford, Mitch Dunsford, Kolbi Cobb and Kendal Payne and five great- grandchildren, Cole Dunsford, Brayden Smith, Waylon Dunsford, Gabe Dunsford and Wesley Dunsford.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Faith Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Stokes, Rev. Ricky Dunsford and Rev. Robert Barrow officiating. Burial followed at Pineview Cemetery.

The family received friends Friday, September 22, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Brian Johnston, Vincent Holley, Kent Calloway, Blake Calloway, Roger Burkett and Marcus Godwin.

Herbert Hoover Hall
Mr. Herbert Hoover Hall, age 89, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 in Atmore, Ala. He was owner of Hall’s Store. He was born in Oak Grove, Fla. to the late James Cliffton and Burlie Buchannon Hall. He attended Presley Street Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy Janelle Hall and six brothers.

Mr. Hall is survived by two sons, Jim C. (Kathy) Hall of Jackson, Ala. and Tim H. Hall of Seminole, Ala.; one daughter, Janet (David) Womack of Atmore, Ala.; four grandchildren, Jace (Natasha) Hall, Lana (Michael) Nelson, Shelly (Ryan) Lambert and Morgan Womack; three great-grandchildren, Ember, Samuel and Arriana.

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Boyd officiating. Interment followed in Oak Grove Cemetery.

The family received friends Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Lillian Hadley
Mrs. Lillian Hadley, age 74, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 in Perdido, Ala. She was a native of Uriah, Ala. and had resided in Perdido for the past forty-nine years. She was retired from Vanity Fair with forty years of service. She was of the holiness faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Brooks and two sons, Timmy and Myron.

Mrs. Hadley is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Travis Hadley of Perdido; four sons, Travis Dywayne (Rita Darlene) Hadley, Christopher Nolin Hadley, Lonnel (Michelle Lynn) Hadley, all of Perdido and Kenneth Bankster of Stapleton, Ala.; one daughter, Vanessa Porter of Mobile, Ala.; one brother, Harold Brooks of Bay Minette, Ala.; two sisters, Mary Hadley of Fairhope, Ala. and Tina Stringfellow of Mississippi and a number of grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sis. Helen Stewart officiating. Burial followed at the Hadley-Brooks Cemetery.

The family received friends Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 10 until service time at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Brandon Rolin, Dywayne Hadley, Matthew Hadley, Jason Hadley, Scott Dunaway, Mike Turberville, Marshall Hadley and William Frazier.

Ester “Newt” Dailey
Mr. Ester “Newt” Dailey, age 90, of Atmore, Ala., Freemanville Community) passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

Funeral services are incomplete at this time but will be announced by Turner Funeral Chapel LLC.

William Franklin Lewis, Sr.
Mr. William Franklin Lewis, Sr., age 98, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, September 15, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Evergreen, Ala to the late William and Minnie Mae Lewis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; loving wife, Lucile Lewis and four sons, William Lewis, Jr., Joel Lewis, S., William Frank Lewis and Gary Thomas Lewis; grandson, Kevin Kenny Lewis and devoted son-in-law, Willie A. Knight.

Mr. Lewis is survived by five sons, William E. Lew of Valdosta, Ga., Apostle Marcus (Joanne) Lewis, James (Gennie) Lewis and Scottie Lewis, all of Atmore and Jack Lewis of Mobile, Ala.; four daughters, Leola Brundidge, Mary Alice Lewis, both of Pensacola, Fla., Minnie Knight of Atmore and Betty Lewis of Boston, Mass; special granddaughter he raised as his daughter, Earnestine (Rodney) Harris of Randolph, Mass; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Baptist Church with Pastor F.D. Banks, host pastor and presider and Apostle Louise Banks, Sr. officiating. Interments followed in Stallworth Cemetery.

Pallbearers were his grandsons and floral attendants, granddaughter.

Maeola Goldthrip
Mrs. Maeola Goldthrip, age 81, of Evergreen, Ala., passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Mobile Infirmary, Mobile, Ala. He was born to the late Claude McCreary and Earnestine Wiggins McCreary. She was educated in the Conecuh County School System. She worked as a seamstress and housekeeper. She also worked as a draper pleater for Steven Robert/Max Kahn in Evergreen. She also did tailor-made clothing for private customers. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church where she served in the choir. In her final years she was at home in Azalea Gardens Nursing Home in Mobile.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sister, Elizabeth Watson, Voncile Fauntleroy and Mattie McCreary.

Mrs. Goldthrip is survived by three children, Mildred Goldthrip, Vickey Goldthrip, all of Evergreen and Michael (Kristal) Goldthrip of Marietta, Ga.; three sisters, Arcola Leslie and Delois Carlis, both of Evergreen, Viola Armsbrister of Brooklyn, N.Y.; uncle, Charlie J. Wiggins of Tunnel Springs, Ala.; devoted friends, Alma J. Thomas, Helen Mosley, Ezzie Dell Royster, Geraldine Mims, Roby Phillipi and Michael Burt; devoted nephew, Reginale Carlis of Evergreen and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church No. l, Tunnel Springs with Rev. Whalen Oliver officiating.

Interment followed at Antioch Baptist Church No. l Cemetery.

Pallbearers were nephews and friends.

Flower bearers were nieces and friends.
