Woman assaults mother

Barlow

A Brewton woman was arrested on several charges after she allegedly assaulted her mother during a domestic dispute that took place in the middle of two rural roads.

According to a press release issued by Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mike Lambert, 23-year-old Jina E. Barlow of a Pennie Lane address was charged with one count each of third-degree domestic violence assault, third-degree domestic violence reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child after the fracas, which took place on Friday, April 21.

Sheriff’s reports show that 911 dispatchers received a report around 10:30 a.m. on Friday that two females were fighting in the middle of Appleton Road and Lowery Landing Road.

Witnesses told deputies that Barlow had assaulted an elderly woman, later identified as her mother. The injured woman refused medical treatment and ambulance transport, but was taken to a local hospital in a privately owned vehicle.

There was a 3-year-old child in the backseat of a vehicle that was parked near the scene of the fight, which led to the charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

Barlow, shown wearing a grin in her mug shot, was also reportedly the subject of several outstanding warrants not related to the fight.
