Easter events set

Easter in the Park
The Chamber of Commerce 9th Annual Easter in the Park will be held Saturday, April 15, in Heritage Park on the corner of Main and Craig streets.

The Easter Bunny will arrive at 9:30 am. and the fun continues until 11:30 a.m.

There will be plenty of activities for the kids, including Easter arts and crafts and Easter games. They can take a ride on the Easter Express train.

Refreshments will be served.

The L House Photography will be on hand to take pictures with the Easter Bunny with various photo packages available for purchase.

Destiny egg hunt
Destiny Worship Center will host an Easter egg hunt on Resurrection Sunday (this Sunday, April 16) at Houston Avery Park.

The Easter event, which will begin at 3 p.m., is free and is for children of all ages. Each child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and each must bring his or her own basket or bucket. There will be three eggs that will earn prizes for the child who finds them.

Bishop Bernard Bishop, Destiny pastor, said the egg hunt has a dual purpose. It is designed not only to promote unity within the community, but is a way for Destiny to give back to the community, he said.

Bishop added that any church, club or other organization that would like to participate is more than welcome and that volunteers are not only welcome, but badly needed.

Any group or individual wishing to take part in the egg hunt is urged call either Bishop Bishop, at either 577-1430, or Sherick Brown at 294-0348. Anyone who decides at the last minute is asked to “just show up at the park” at 2 p.m., when organizers begin final preparations for the holiday event.
