Each year, United Bank hosts an Agriculture Appreciation Luncheon. While the event is always an appreciation, this year’s luncheon was also a celebration. As UB President and CEO Bob Jones said in his opening remarks, it was a good year for agriculture.

“The Lord blessed us,” he said.

According to information provided by UB, farming employs one in four people and has an economic impact of more than $14 billion across Southwest Alabama and Northwest Florida. Farmers in this area consistently rank first in peanut and cotton production.

Entertainment was provided by Rik Roberts. And entertain he did with funny stories and songs. At one point he needed a volunteer to help out on stage, and who should volunteer but Lou Vickery. Needless to say, the two provided many more laughs.

Rik and his family live in Nashville. He’s a member of the National Speakers Association and is a board member of the Christian Comedy Association.
