The top spellers in grades 3 through 8 in Escambia County public schools participated in a district-wide spelling bee Thursday, January 12, at Flomaton High School.

The media center was packed as seven students in grades 3 through 5 and six students in grades 6 through 8 went head to head with some really tough words.

Abby Burkett, A.C. Moore Elementary;
Bradley Campbell, Pollard McCall Junior High;
India Dees, W.S. Neal Middle;
Donnie Fails, Escambia County Middle;
Harper Harrison, Flomaton Elementary;
Kane Hart, Pollard McCall Junior High;
Jamaya Johnson, W.S. Neal Middle;
Racquel Knight, Escambia County Middle;
Mari’Yuana McCaster, Huxford Elementary;
River Ramer, Huxford Elementary;
William Sanders, W.S. Neal Elementary.
Abby Burkett and Jaelyn Bloodsworth will compete in the county-wide bee, which includes city schools and private schools, on February 8.
