The Atmore VFW Auxiliary to Post 7016 hosted its annual Young American Patriotic Art Awards dinner at David’s Catfish in Atmore on Saturday, April 20.
Madelyn Crane, a senior at T.R. Miller High School in Brewton, was recognized for placing first in the annual scholarship contest. She received $200 from the Auxiliary; her artwork has been forwarded for judging at the State level.
Mariah Moore, a sophomore at Escambia County High School in Atmore, was recognized for placing second in the competition. She received $150 from the Auxiliary for placing second in the annual scholarship contest.
“Judging is a hard process,” Auxiliary member Jackey Odom said. “ We looked at all submissions, we read the essays that were submitted with the artwork. It was tough making the decision to select one piece of art over the other. We did though, after a lot of consideration. We encourage you young ladies to continue expressing yourself through art.”
