Body found – Death believed to be from natural causes
All evidence indicates that an Atmore woman whose body was found inside her car last Friday (February 10) died of natural causes. “There is no evidence of foul play,” Atmore Police Chief Chuck Brooks said this week of 60-year-old Patricia Marsteller’s demise. “We’ve learned from her medical history that she had several conditions that might have contributed to her death. Governor Robert Bentley announced on Friday, February 10, the appointment of Steven Marshall, former Marshall County District Attorney, as the new Alabama Attorney General. Marshall will fill the vacancy left by Luther Strange upon his appointment to the Unites States Senate. Marshall, who was born in Atmore, is the nephew of Atmore resident Nancy Everette Helton. Local man charged in thefts
Tyson Phillips, 19, of a Jacks Springs Road address in Atmore, was arrested recently on several outstanding warrants charging him with theft-related crimes. According to a press release from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, a man believed to be Phillips was spotted walking along Jack Springs Road, near Smith Dairy Road, on January 19. Auditions set for Passion Play
The Greater Escambia Council for the Arts will hold auditions for a passion play, “He Was Raised,” this Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. There are 38 speaking parts for all ages in this drama. (There will be no singing.) Show dates are April 6-9. Auditions will be held at the theater, corner of Trammell and Nashville.
