Volunteers with Atmore Area Christian Care Ministry held their banquet Thursday evening, October 19. On behalf of AACCM, board president Shelia Helton presented the Rev. Charlotte Boyle attended the Alabama Silver Haired Legislature meeting October 1-4 in Montgomery. The ASHL writes resolutions rather than “bills.” When resolutions are finalized and approved, they are forwarded to the Governor, the House and Senate for consideration to be made a bill for passage into law. In September the Atmore Memorial VFW Auxiliary held a stuffed animal drive to distribute animals to first responder agencies to give children in emergency / traumatic situations. The community responded and Monday, October 16, Auxiliary member Jenny Hutto and Auxiliary President Jackey Odom distributed stuffed animals to the Atmore police and fire departments, Poarch police and fire departments, and Medstar Ambulance.
