30th anniversary
We Care Thrift Store celebrated its 30th anniversary Friday, September 27, with an Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce-sponsored ribbon cutting. The first store was opened here by Aaron and Vera Martin on September 29, 1989, and stores were later opened in Flomaton and Monroeville. Roderick Lynn “Thumper” Watkins, Jr.  Mr. Roderick Lynn “Thumper” Watkins, Jr., age 23, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 as a result of a homicide at his residence. He was a native of Atmore and affectionately known as “Thumper” to his family and friends. He was a 2015 graduate of Escambia County High School. He had recently been employed with Swift Lumber Co. as a machine operator.…
