Rhodes receives scholarship
Escambia County native and Auburn University student John Rhodes received a $1,750 scholarship from the Alabama Farmers Federation Agriculture Foundation and the Escambia County Farmers Federation. Rhodes was recognized during the Alabama Farmers Federation scholarship reception Sept. 26 at Lazenby Farms in Auburn. Rhodes is a freshman studying biology and agricultural technology management. Balloon release for childhood cancer
Raising awareness The teachers at First Baptist Church Preschool held a balloon release for the kids Friday, September 30, for their Go Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness campaign. They do this every year in honor of children with cancer. This year, they especially remembered and honored Ana Lois Mercer, who could not be there due to her illness.
