An Atmore man was arrested September 17 and is charged with attempted murder after he drove by a local residence and fired twice at two people who were outside.
Atmore Police Department reports show that officers were sent to a residence in the 100 block of Curtis Street around 11:10 a.m. in reference to shots fired.
One of the intended victims followed the suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Eric Frye of Atmore, and provided emergency dispatchers with updates on the suspect’s location. The person also gave a description of the suspect and of his vehicle.
Officers spotted Frye’s vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. After Frye used several evasive maneuvers to try and evade police, he pulled into a driveway, exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident.
The victims informed police that Frye had driven by their residence and fired twice at them, then drove away. Officers recovered a 9mm semi-automatic handgun from the vehicle.
Frye, who is charged with two counts of attempted murder, remained in the Escambia County Detention Center, without bond, Tuesday afternoon.
