For 14 years in a row, Perdido Middle School students in Ms. Gerri McDonald’s gifted program have taken first place honors in multiple categories in Alabama’s Council on Economic Education program. This is the fourth consecutive year that her students have placed first in the state for the Alabama Economics Challenge, Alabama’s Personal Finance Challenge, America and the Free Enterprise System Essay Competition, and America and the Free Enterprise System Video Competition.
She and her students recently attended the 2018 ACEE Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, April 25, at the University of Alabama Birmingham. This year’s featured speaker is Dr. Josh Carpenter, Director, Department of Innovation and Economic Opportunity, City of Birmingham.
This year’s winners from Perdido and the category they won first place in are as follows:
