Addison Long, who has served as interim executive director of Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce since last summer, is now officially the Chamber’s top executive.
Long, who holds a degree in Hospitality Management from Auburn University’s Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management, was hired as an assistant to former executive director Anna Ellis.
Since Ellis left the position, Long has stepped in and was the driving force behind organization of last October’s Williams Station Day celebration, last December’s Twilight Christmas Parade and several other community events.
David Dobson, past president of the Chamber board, said the decision to offer her the position was a no-brainer.
“It was an easy decision,” Dobson said. “The public has taken to her well, and she has jumped into (the job). She has a great personality, she is a professional, and she carries herself really well. She is a good breath of fresh air, and we’re excited she’s going to be the executive director.”
The new Chamber chief is just as excited.
“I am thrilled to share that I have been named the executive director of the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce,” she said in an email to Chamber members. “It is truly an honor to serve our incredible business community. I am excited to work with you to continue growing and strengthening Atmore as a wonderful place to live, work and do business.
“I am so grateful to have the privilege of leading this incredible organization, and I look forward to many successful years ahead with you by our side.”
