After a highly successful event in 2023, the Monroeville / Monroe County Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Kiwanis Club of Monroeville, is gearing up for the 4th annual Monroe County Rodeo.
Scheduled to take place on August 9 and 10, the rodeo will be held in Frisco City on Snider Avenue. This National Cowboy Pro Rodeo Association (NCPRA) sanctioned event will once again be organized by the 5T Rodeo Company, led by world champion calf roper and Mississippi Hall of Fame inductee Herbert Theriot.
Gates will open each night at 6 p.m., offering attendees an array of food vendors, rodeo merchandise, and a mechanical bull. Rodeo action will commence at 7 p.m., featuring traditional competitions such as barrel racing, team roping, calf roping, saddle bronc riding, breakaway roping, bareback riding, and bull riding. Additionally, nightly entertainment will include a rodeo clown and various crowd participation games.
Children aged 4-8 years old will have the opportunity to participate in Mutton Bustin’, managed by Justalil’ Rodeo Company from Grady, Alabama. Registration for this event is now open. Mutton Bustin forms may be picked up at the Chamber office or downloaded from monroecountyal.com.
Rodeo tickets are on sale now and are $15 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. Kids 3 and under will be allowed to attend the event free of charge.
“I strongly suggest that people purchase their tickets early before the rodeo weekend. We will have two separate lines at the arena gate. Those with prepaid tickets will be in the fast-track line at the entrance,” Chamber Executive Director Penelope Hines said.
Tickets may be purchased at the following locations: South Alabama Kubota, Monroeville Area YMCA, Southern Farm Supply, Frisco City Co-op, Bonehead Boots, and the Chamber of Commerce office. Rodeo t-shirts are on sale at the Chamber office and the Frisco City Co-op. Adult sizes are $20 and kid sizes are $15. The rodeo t-shirts as well as other assorted items will be available for purchase at the rodeo as well.
Proceeds from the rodeo will support the Monroeville Kiwanis Club’s numerous children’s projects, including the Angel Tree, Monroe County Library, Monroeville YMCA, Monroe County Education Foundation, and scholarships for local high school students.
