A Pensacola, Fla. man and woman were each charged with drug trafficking after an April 6, midday traffic stop by Atmore police along South Main Street led to the discovery of more than an ounce of crack cocaine.
Atmore Police Department Sgt. Darrell McMann reported the incident began around 12:55 p.m. when an APD patrol officer saw a vehicle whose driver failed to stop at a red light. He pulled the vehicle over and while he talked with the occupants — Jovante Ducree, 30, and Artavian Jenkins, 34, both of Pensacola — he “detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.”
A search of the vehicle turned up 47.2 grams of a white, rock substance that field-tested positive for crack cocaine, as well as .5 grams of a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for cocaine; 8 grams of a green, leafy substance that field-tested positive for marijuana; and a digital scale.
Ducree and Jenkins were each charged with drug trafficking (crack), possession of a controlled substance (powder cocaine), second-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. They both remained in the Escambia County Detention Center late Monday, April 10.
