A 28-year-old Atmore man was arrested September 28 on a felony drug charge after city police responded to a report of a domestic incident at a house on Bragg Street.
Police were called to the residence around 1:35 p.m. after the suspect, D’Darrius Harris, had refused to leave his ex-girlfriend’s home. Harris also told the responding officer he wasn’t going to leave.
When the policeman approached Harris, he detected “an overwhelming odor of marijuana about his person and in the room Harris had just exited.”
A search of Harris led to discovery of a glass pipe with crystal-like residue in it in his front pocket. The residue field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
He was charged with one count each of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and third-degree criminal trespass.
The Escambia County Detention Center website showed that Harris remained in the facility Tuesday morning, October 4.
