George Duncan Mahony, Jr.
Mr. George Duncan Mahony, Jr., age 78, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, November 15, 2021. He was born in Victoria, Texas to George D. Mahony, Sr. and Julia Bell Mahony. He served in the United States Navy and was a welder by trade.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Peter Mahony.
Mr. Mahony is survived by his wife, Lois Dunn Mahony and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Graveside services will be held Friday, November 19, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Bro. Timothy James officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore with Military Honors.
Active pallbearers will be Ed Davis, Mike Coker, Jason Dunn, Tommy Davis, Ronnie Baggett and Nathan Holcomb.

Eugene Emil Gabbert
Mr. Eugene Emil Gabbert, age 84, of Jay, Fla., passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021. He was born in Minnesota to the late Emil and Rosa Gabbert. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pensacola, Fla. He served four years in U.S. Air Force. He worked with several private companies in communication and the John Deere Dealership. He then retired from outside jobs to work from his home shop in farm equipment repair. He received the U.S. Congressional Award for sponsoring and hosting the Peanut Festival on our farm in October every year. He was a good man with a loving heart and soul.
He was deceased by his parents; daughter, Melissa Caroline Gabbert; sister, Joyce (Helm Puth) Schmidt.
Mr. Gabbert is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Brenda Joyce Gabbert of Jay, Fla., two daughters, Amanda (Mandy) Gabbert and Lynn (Tony) Simmons two sisters, Donna (Rodney) Anderson and Doreen (Sam) Merrill.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Cora Baptist Church with Rev. Matthew Dobson, Rev. Jim Lassiter and others will speak. There will be music and songs.
Interment will follow at Cora Cemetery. The church is located at 12953 Chumuckla Hwy. 19, Jay, Fla.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Cora Baptist Church.

Martha Ann Weaver Sharpless
Mrs. Martha Ann Weaver Sharpless, age 83, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021. She was born in Booneville, Ala. to Audrey and Onnie Mae Weaver. She graduated from Escambia County High School and Alverson-Draughon Business College. She and her husband, John, were the owners of The Decorating Center in Atmore, Ala. and Direct Carpets in Mobile, Ala. before retiring in 2000 to Fairhope, Ala. For the past two years she resided in Crossville, Tenn. with her daughter and son-in-law. Some of Martha’s interests included flowers, gardening and spending time outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, John E. Sharpless; parents; brother, O’Neal Weaver and sister, June Weaver Luker.
Mrs. Sharpless is survived by her daughter, Holley Sharpless (Dan) Richte; granddaughters, Danielle (Ryan) Russell and Megan Richter; sister, Virginia Weaver Sharpless; brother, Jerry (Jeanette) Weaver along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 26, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m., followed by a private burial.

Raymond L. Bolden
Mr. Raymond (Ray) L. Bolden, age 90, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021. He was born in Birmingham, Ala. He worked in banking his entire career serving as President of United Bank during that time. He was very active his entire life in a variety of sports and activities. He was a draft choice in baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates and served in the Navy. He enjoyed flying and owned and piloted several small planes. One of Ray’s last “bucket list” adventures was realized when he went sky diving with his good friend, Mayor Jim Staff on his 90th birthday in September. He was an avid golfer and a long-time member of the Atmore Country Club where he spent cherished times playing with his golf buddies. Over the past few years, He enjoyed meeting once a week for breakfast with his ROMEO friends (Retired Old Men Eating Out) and flipping to see who paid for the meal and the tip. He lived a rich, full life and never met a stranger. He was well known for his sense of humor and thoroughly enjoyed playing pranks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of sixty-four years, Joyce Mae Busenlehner; his brothers, Calvin, Dan, and Terry; sisters, Decima, Eva, and Joyce
Mr. Bolden is survived by his son, Raymond “Randy” L. Bolden, Jr.; daughters, Deborah “Debbie” Bolden, Cynthia “Cindy” Bolden; adopted daughter, Amy Cabaniss ; his furry side kick Nacho; sister, Dina Sprouse, and many cherished in- laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church on Main Street with a reception immediately following in the church hall.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 10 a.m. in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Ruby Mason Lundy
Mrs. Ruby Mason Lundy, age 75, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021 in Fairhope, Ala. She has resided most of her life in Atmore, Ala. She was a member of New Beginnings Ministries Church. She owned and operated Hall’s Tax Service for fifty plus years. She valued the time she spent with her family and going out to eat. She enjoyed traveling to the beach and the mountains. She enjoyed singing and listening to music. She was an avid ‘Alabama Football Fan” and she loved her dog “Duke”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville (Quilla Jay) Mason.
Mrs. Lundy is survived by her son, Dakota Lundy, of Atmore; two daughters, Melanie (Jamerson) Nelson, of Excel, Ala., Shala (Matt) Canning, of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Gayle (Thurl) Pearson, of Atmore; two grandchildren, Judd Arnold, Jacob Nelson; special nieces and nephews; cousin, David Wellington; special friends, Marie Williams and Polly Harrison.

Arthur Glennon Gunn
Mr. Arthur Glennon Gunn, age 74, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021 in Fairhope, Ala. He was born in Bratt, Fla. and has resided most of his life in Walnut Hill, Fla. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints Atmore Branch and Mobile, Ala. State. He was employed with Escambia County Florida Sheriff’s Office for twenty-five years. He served in the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam War. He valued the time he got to spend with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and attending church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, AR (Janice Godwin) Gunn; one brother, Jerry Gunn, step-father, Richard Sirmon.
Mr. Gunn is survived by his one son, Sean (Stephanie) Gunn, of New Bern, N.C.; four daughters, Jennifer Gunn and Megan (Tray) Juarez, all of Virginia Beach, Va., Jessica Gunn, of Pace, Fla. and Rebecca Gunn, of Foley, Ala.; a special niece, Bethany Merchant; three brothers, Leamond (Judith) Gunn, of Pensacola, Fla., Marlin (Angie) Gunn, of Atmore, Ala., Jim (Vicky) Reed, of Orange Beach, Ala.; three sisters, Joyce Coleman, of Enon, Fla., Shelia (Pete) Coon, of Atmore, and Patricia Gunn, of Decatur, Ala.; twelve grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mittie Evelyn Pettis
Mrs. Mittie Evelyn Pettis, age 87, of Castleberry, Ala., passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021 at her home. She was a native of Conecuh County and a lifelong resident of Castleberry. She attended Oak Grove Holiness Church and retired from Conecuh County Public Schools as a cafeteria worker, serving delicious meals to children. She was devoted to her family and church and loved spending time with everyone.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Wesley “Pete” Pettis; two brothers, Curtis Smith and Billy Smith; three grandchildren, Amy Pettis, Kelly Pettis, and Hannah Pettis.
Mrs. Pettis is survived by her son, Ronald (Lynn) Pettis of Brewton, Ala.; daughter, Cathy (Danny) Coley of Atmore, Ala.; three sisters, Linda Brantley of Brewton, Margaret Smith of Laurel Hill, Fla. and Carolyn (Ronnie) Martin of Castleberry; one brother, James (Vivian) Smith of Barnett Crossroads, Ala.; five grandchildren, Darbe (Nathan) Hooten, Judd (Abby) Coley, Jennifer (Ed) Virden, Mark (Katie) Pettis and Holly Wyatt; ten great-grandchildren, Natalie Wyatt, Baylie Wyatt, Emily Pettis, Emory Virden, Ansleigh Virden, John Wesley Pettis, Hayden Coley, Kinsley Hooten, Paisley Coley, and Konnor Hooten.
