The three incumbents in the Poarch Creek Tribal Council election held Saturday, June 5, had no trouble keeping their seats. All three won handily.
Robert “Robbie” McGhee kept his position as council vice chairman defeating his only challenger, Anthony G. Pebbles, 806 to 138. There were four write-in votes.
The two at-large incumbents, Sandy Fretwell Hollinger and Keith Martin, were challenged by six candidates.
The vote was as follows: Hollinger, 599; Martin, 523; Keith Colbert, 94; Helen McGhee Hallman, 61; Jessica Martin, 170; Elma Darlene Smith, 6; Patrick Strickland, 355; and Anita Tuel, 73. There were six write-in votes.
A total of 974 General Council Members voted in the election Saturday. There were 179 absentee ballots and 595 walk-in ballots counted, and there were 200 General Council members who voted in person on election day.
Members of the PCI Election Board are Edie Baker, chair; members Gilbert McGhee, Brenda Faircloth, Carolyn Peterson; board alternates Breiah Adams and Haley Madison.
