PCI aiding state in COVID-19 vaccines

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians will aid the State of Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) this week administering COVID-19 vaccinations.
According to PCI, 2,240 Pfizer vaccines will be offered Wednesday, March 31, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday, April 1, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Poarch Creek PowWow grounds on Jack Springs Road in Poarch.
The vaccination clinic is free, drive-through only with no appointment necessary. According to the ADPH website, vaccinations are open to anyone 55 and older, have intellectual and developmental disabilities, and the population who are defined under Allocation Phase 1c in the Alabama COVID-19 Vaccination Allocation Plan which includes people 16 to 64 with high-risk medical conditions outlined by ADPH. In addition, critical workers such as those in transportation and logistics, waste and wastewater, food service (includes restaurant staff), shelter and housing (construction), finance (bank tellers), information technology and communication, energy, legal, media and public safety (engineers) will be allowed to receive the vaccination.
Patients will be administered the vaccination in their vehicles after a short pre-screening process is completed. Those receiving the vaccine can expect at least 15-minute wait time following vaccinations to ensure that vaccinations are reaction free. Following the first dose of vaccinations, recipients will return Wednesday, April 21 (for March 31 vaccinations), and Thursday, April 22 (for April 1 vaccinations) to receive the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
