Herbert L. “Dale” Cooper

Mr. Herbert L. “Dale” Cooper, age 80, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 in Atmore. He was born in Rabun, Ala. to the late Henry and Sue Nixon Cooper. He retired in 1999 from Armstrong World Industry with over forty years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Atmore and was known for his bicycle and lawn mower repairs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kathy Cooper Patrick; two brothers, Alvin “Buddy” Cooper and James “Pee Wee” Cooper.
Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife, Patricia McGill Cooper of Atmore; his children, David (Linda) Cooper of Augusta, Ga. and Becky (Bruce) Gentry of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two sisters, Sue Carol Mosley of Montgomery, Ala. and Rose Gilley of Bratt, Fla.; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 26, 2019 at 10 a.m. from First Baptist Church of Atmore with Rev. Arnold Hendrix and Rev. Kevin Garrett officiating. Interment followed in Perdido Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 6 until 8 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Steven Curtis Pace

Mr. Steven Curtis Pace, age 56, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 in Pensacola, Fla. after a 5-year battle with cancer. He was a native and former resident of Pensacola. He had resided in Century, Fla. for the past thirty-nine years. He was a retired over the road truck driver. He was a great friend and always helping others. He loved fished and John Wayne, but most of all, he loved his family and was known to them as their here…their “Superman.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Elizabeth Pace; nieces Brittany Pace and Chasity Pace.

Mr. Pace is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Denise R. Pace of Century; two sons, Steven W. (Amie) Pace of Molino, Fla. and Rannon L. Pace (Fiancée, Marisah Coy) of Century,; one daughter, Rachel Pace (Fiancée, Ronnie Holt) of Molino; two brothers, Bryant (Angela) Pace of Fairhope, Ala. and Beau (Dawn) Pace of Pensacola; one sister, Audrey (Roy) Fawley of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Eam N. Lundy, Siobaun English, Logan English, Braelyn Pace, Kaleb Pace, Isabella Coy and Harper Pace.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 26, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Reo Pugh officiating. Burial followed at Hollingsworth Cemetery.

The family received friends Friday, April 26, 2019 from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Holt, Dillan Woods, Taylor Woods, Austin Bradshaw, Rico Padilla and Chris Powell.

Honorary pallbearers were Kaleb Pace and Logan English.

Joseph “Hugh” Westbrook

Mr. Joseph “Hugh” Westbrook, age 66, of Havana, Fla. formerly of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019. Hugh spent his time on this earth doing things he enjoyed. He loved to play jokes on those he loved. He was a truck driver for over twenty years, seeing the United States and parts of Canada. He was a corrections officer in Florida and Alabama for a brief period of time.

He was preceded in death by his biological parents, Mae and Frank Baker; his adoptive parents, Mary and J. B. Westbrook; his sisters, Karen Hall and Teresa Jeffords; his brothers, George Baker and James Edward (Chip) Jeffords; his wife, Shirley Ann Westbrook and his son, Joseph (Skipper) Westbrook.

Mr. Westbrook is survived by April Ulrich his childhood friend companion; son, Bentley; step-sons, Willie and Chris; daughters, Tabitha and Emily; sisters, Dorothy, Patty, Patsy and Joanie; brothers, Frank, Thomas, Samuel, and Curley; grandchildren, Sierra, James, Joshua, Larrissa, Sarah, Bethany, Bayle, Ensley, Dixie, Ciara and Olivia; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 27 at 2 p.m. at Petty Funeral Home with Bro. James Gentry officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family received friends Friday, April 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Petty Funeral Home with the family gathering at 5 p.m.

Ruth Opal Alleman

Mrs. Ruth Opal Alleman, age 97, of Freeport, Ill., passed away Friday, April 26, 2019 at Presence St. Joseph Center in Freeport. She was born to the late Oscar and Myrtle (Afflerbaugh) Burbaker. She was a graduate of Dakota High School in Dakota, Ill. She had worked for Micro Switch, Structo, and Burgess Battery. She and her husband also operated the Sunshine Inn Cafe. She was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible. She enjoyed gardening, watching Wheel of Fortune and General Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Lyle Keech and Rex Alleman; son, Harry; sisters, Naomi, Phyllis, and Mildred; brother, Stanley; daughter-in-law, Becky; son-in-law, Ronald and step-daughters, Sylvia and Linda.

Mrs. Alleman is survived by her sons, Edward (Glenda) Keech of Stockton, IL, Gary Keech of Cedarville, IL and Donald (Phyllis) Keech of Arlington, TX; daughters, Glory Keech, Marlene Ahrens and Donna Keech, all of Freeport and JoAnn (Ralph) Boatwright of Atmore, Ala.; nineteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren, including her namesake and most recent great-great-granddaughter, Ivy Opal Holland; step-son, David Alleman and many nieces and nephews; caregiver, Kara Hofmaster.

The family received friends Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Freeport.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 29, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the First Church of the Open Bible. Burial will follow at the Davis Cemetery in Davis, Ill.

James Alfred Burkett 

Mr. James Alfred Burkett, age 89, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, April 26, 2019, at West Florida Regional Hospital in Pensacola, Fla. He was born to the late Patti and Claude Burkett. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and later retired from Monsanto. He was a longtime member of Presley Street Baptist Church serving as a deacon as well as in numerous other positions throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Alfred (Donna) Burkett, of Alexander City, Ala.; his wife of sixty-five years, Georgia Earlene Burkett; one brother, Roy Lee (Betty) Burkett, of Atmore; two sisters, Pauline (Ralph) Womack and an infant sister, Helen Burkett, both of Atmore.

Mr. Burkett is survived by one daughter, Virginia Gail Bell; sister, Hazel (Lavon) Smith; grandson, Blake (Stephanie) Bell; great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Colin Bell, all of Atmore; brother-in-law, Donald Ray (Peggy) Weaver, of Atmore; sister-in-law, Alice (Richard) Walsh, of Pensacola; sister-in-law, Connie Weaver, of Bay Minette, Ala. and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Sunday, April 28, 2019, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 29, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph Simpson and the Rev. Dempsey Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers will be James Bell, Jason Burkett, Wendell Wearren, Blake Bell, Ken Tomas and Lonnie Turberville.

Jamie Lamar King

Mr. Jamie Lamar King, age 44, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 in Mobile, Ala. He was a native of Atmore, Ala. and had resided in Canoe, Ala. most of his life. He was an employee at G.A. West Co. as a diesel mechanic and was of the Christian faith.

Mr. King is survived by his mother, Annie King of Atmore; wife, Donna E. King of Uriah, Ala.; two sons, Jaxon King and Jayson Lavon King of Atmore; three daughters, Tracie Alexis Hall, Lillie Rebekah King and Allyson Rachel King, all of Atmore; one brother, Drayl Reed King of Pensacola, Fla.; one sister, Amanda McGhee of Atmore; a very special niece and nephew, Cortney King and Tyler King; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 29, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Earl Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at Mothershed Cemetery.

Patsy Ann Presley

Mrs. Patsy Ann Presley, age 74, passed away Monday, April 29, 2019, at her home after a lengthy illness.  She was a native and resident of Perdido, Ala. She was a faithful, lifelong member of Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Church. She loved gospel music and singing with her two sisters and brother-in-law known as The Perdido Quartet. She enjoyed working in her yard and her flower beds. Early in life, she was employed by Bryant’s Hospital as a nurse’s aide; Perdido Jr. High School as a cook and server; The Baldwin Times as a paper distributor, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier at the Perdido Post Office. She loved to cook and provide large family meals on Sundays and holidays.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and founders of Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Church, Rheudalph T. and Fannie Elizebeth Coleman; her parents, James and Sallie Elizebeth Chafin; one brother, Mack Taylor Chafin; two brothers-in-law, Ivan I. Stewart and John “Johnny” Crnarich, all of Perdido.

Mrs. Presley is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Rodger Douglas Presley; three sons: Louis Samford Presley of Theodore, Ala., Phillip Douglas (Jackie) Presley of Bay Minette, Ala., Ross Holden (Donna) Presley of Perdido; two sisters, Gwen Stewart and Melba Crnarich, both of Perdido; three grandsons, Drew, Holden and Sean; five granddaughters, Bethany, Belle, Ashley, Natalee, and Elizebeth “Lizzie,” all of Perdido; three special close friends, Carolyn Presley, Marie Harville, and Phillip “Marty” Cannon  and a host of other relative & friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11 a.m. from Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Stoney Daw and Rev. Joe Ed Welch, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 3, 2019 from 5:30 until 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel. She will lie in state at the church May 4, 2019 from 9 until service time at 11 a.m.at the church.

Active pallbearers will be Phillip Presley, Ross Presley, Clark Crnarich, Jeffery Chafin, Kenneth Stewart and Winston “Pee Wee” Stewart.

Ernest J. Coleman  

Mr. Ernest J. Coleman, age 81, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at home in Enon, Fla. He was a correctional officer with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office for twenty years after serving his country in the U.S. Army for twenty-four years. He loved living in the woods and was an avid fisherman.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey Scott Coleman and Richard Earl Coleman; brother, Marion C. Coleman; sister, Bertha C. Taylor; father, Jackson C. Coleman and mother, Martha Elousie Coleman.

Mr. Coleman is survived by his wife, Carolyn Joyce Coleman; his children, Connie Marie Dudgeon (Thom), Sherry Ann Pitts, (Mark) and Paul Ernest Coleman; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and sister, Betty (Curtis) Amerson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 10 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chris Dudgeon officiating. Interment will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Enon, Fla.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 3, 2019 from 6 until 8 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Thomas L. Robinson, Jr., at Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, April 26, 2019 at Atmore Community Hospital.

Frankie Lee Bayne

Ms. Frankie Lee Bayne, age 64, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019. She was born in Atmore to the late Marie Bayne and Frank Barron. She was a 1972 graduate of Escambia County Training School. She was employed with Diamond Gasoline for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Henry Bayne.

Ms. Bayne is survived by her children, LaSonja (Dennis) George, Elizabeth (Mitchell) Henderson, Erica Bayne, Marcus Bayne and Blake (Anjanette) Baynen, all of Atmore; sisters, Dorothy Barron of Birmingham Ala and Emma Hatch of Mobile, Ala; seventeen grandchildren, Deontaine (Emmil) Webb, Akebia Bayne, Delarreon (Rochelle) Bayne of Atlanta, Ga., Savon Bayne of Huntsville, Ala., Dennis George, Jr., Dedrick Bayne, Gabrielle Henderson, Miracle George, Jeremiah George, Nathan Reagan, Tyler, Reagan, Ayiana Stapl3es, Alondrea Bayne, Ava Bayne, Blake Bayne, Jr., August Bayne, Austin and Austin Bayne; seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Infant Natalie Ruby Grace Holden passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019 in Bay Minette, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Richard Taft George, II, Wayne L. Hadley and Christopher Robin Holden.
Infant Natalie is survived by her parents, Chris and Lizzy Holden of Perdido, Ala.; maternal grandparent, Jennifer Grubbs of Theodore, Ala.; paternal grandparents, Marshall Wayne and Christina Holden Hadley of Perdido; great-grandparents, Allen and Jeannie Grubbs of Tillmans Corner, Ala., Sandra Lee Hadley of Perdido, Richard Taft George of Mobile, Ala. and Paul and Maria Wilson of Spring Field, Tenn.; one sister, Robin Krystina Holden of Perdido; aunt, Cathryne George of Mobile; uncles, Joe George, Leo George and Josh Skippe, all of Mobile and Luke Colton Hadley of Perdido, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 2 p.m.. at the Hadley Brooks Cemetery with Sis. Helen Stewart and Bro. Brian Crane officiating.
