Fort Mims Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution had two members from Atmore attend the annual Flag Day Celebration, which was held this year at the First Baptist Christian Life Center in Foley. The event was sponsored by Bon Secour DAR chapter.
Attending from Atmore were Linda Ellison and Nancy Karrick.
The program started with a moving video by Johnny Cash to the music of ” I’m Proud to Be an American.” Members then stood for the presentation of colors, followed by a lovely clarinet rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.
Following lunch, members listened to Sergeant First Class Brandon Lloyd, US Army Retired, as he told of his military career and what the flag means to him.
Ecor Rouge Chapter will host the meeting next year.
