Ricky Peebles
Pastor Ricky Peebles, age 66, of Davisville, Fla. passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025 in Pensacola, Fla. He was born in Atmore, Ala. but lived most of his life in Bratt, Fla. He was a dedicated pastor for more than fifty years, always ready to help with projects around the church and community. His love for the outdoors shone through in his passion for hunting and fishing. Alongside this, he enjoyed gunsmithing and locksmithing, showcasing his practical skills. He enjoyed playing the piano and guitar, often sharing his music through singing. For seventeen years, he worked at Bondurant Lumber and Hardware, where he made lasting connections. In his free time, he loved watching westerns, spending time with his cherished pets—especially his dog BJ—and delighting in moments with his grandchildren, who brought him great joy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilborn and Dorothy Gunn Peebles; wife, Donna Peebles; son Robert Jarrod Peebles.
He is survived by his loving wife of fourteen years, Becka Peebles of Davisville, Florida; son Jason and wife Jennifer Peebles of Walnut Hill, Florida; three brothers, Roger and wife Rene’ Peebles of McCullough, Alabama, Randall and wife Cindy Peebles of Bratt, Florida and Ronald and wife Darlene Peebles of Bratt, Florida; five grandchildren, Liberty Peebles, Gabbie Peebles Zisa, Memory Peebles Spruill, Dakota Peebles and Becca Peebles; two great-grandchildren, Stormy, Riverlyee, and two on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 16, 2025 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.
Pallbearers will be Trent Peebles, Coy Peebles, Austin Snyder, Sheldon Schneider, Greg Schneider and Michael “Nooch” Segers.

Joseph Alan Phillips

Mr. Joseph Alan Phillips, age 75, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at his home in Atmore, Ala. surrounded by his family. He was a member of Shell Banks Baptist Church at Fort Morgan, Ala. and loved his church family.
Growing up in a farming family his love of the smell of the dirt, farming, and harvesting crops never left him. During his working years he was with Liberty National Life Insurance Company for twenty-five years. After encountering some health issues, he joined Meyer Real Estate in Gulf Shores and worked for 10 years until retirement. His love of people and the gift of talking to anyone and everyone suited him well in his sales career.
Some of his best years were spent with his family and friends at Fort Morgan, Ala. watching his grandchildren enjoy the area that he and his sons had enjoyed as children. There was nothing better than watching his sons catch mullet, having a fish fry with family, friends, and neighbors later that afternoon, and enjoying the beautiful sunset over the Bay.
He loved his family. He loved being with his sons, their families, and their friends. He was honored that their friends called him Pop. Joe told everyone he met about his grandchildren. Even on his worst days, just the sight of his grandchildren brought joy to his heart and a smile on his face.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey L. and Glenda Mildred Phillips; his sister, Joyce Phillips Sellers; his brother, William Harvey (Bill) Phillips;
Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Rebecca (Becky) Sellers Phillips; sons, Jonathon Alan (Tracie) Phillips and Jarard Burton (Ashley) Phillips; grandchildren, Piper Isabella Phillips, Sutton Hayes Phillips, Briggs Burton Phillips, Madison (Trae) Hall, Alexus (Hunter) Hanson, Mercedes (Aaron) Rupe and Tryton Watson; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Barbara (Wayne) Harrison.
A Celebration of Life will be held from the chapel of Johnson Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11 a.m. officiated by Bro. Don Melton and Rev. John Ballard. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Atmore.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.,

Virginia M. Lambert

Mrs. Virginia M. Lambert, age 100, of Atmore, Ala., passed away at her residence Wednesday, June 11, 2025. She was born to Noah Britton and Essie Ellington McKeehan in Raleigh, N.C. She and her husband, Jake, owned Lambert’s Grocery Store. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Atmore. She retired from the Utilities Board of Atmore.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jake Lambert; her daughter, Patsy Lambert Robinson; her two sisters, Sara and Gladys; her brother, Nevell McKeehan; her brothers and sisters in law, Joe and Catherine Lambert, Hiram and Barbara Cook.
Mrs. Lambert is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Ronnie) Johnson of Atmore; her grandson, Rod (Heather) Johnson; her great-grandchildren, Ryan (Randa) Johnson, Christopher Johnson and Carley Johnson and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 20, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richie Nobles officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

James Edward “Eddie” Baker

Mr. James Edward “Eddie” Baker, age 71, of Atmore, Ala., passed away at Atmore Community Hospital Friday, June 13, 2025. He was born in Atmore to Winston “Buddy” Baker and Jerryline “Janice” McDonald. He was a longtime foreman and retired from Air Products. He was an avid hunter and loved Alabama football. He was a member of Robinsonville Baptist Church for many years. He loved being a part of his church’s Vacation Bible School every summer. Above all, he loved the Lord and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Winston “Buddy” Clark Baker and Jerryline “Janice” McDonald Baker.
Mr. Baker is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Patricia Smith Baker; his son, Troy (Summerlyn) Baker of Orange Beach, Ala.; brother, Wayne (Diane) Baker of Bratt, Fla.; sister, Denise (Paul) Chason of Bratt; his grandsons, Kaleb Baker and Rook Gwin; nieces, Miranda Brooks and Christy Black; nephews, Ryan Chason, Kevin Chason and Scott Baker; a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Robinsonville Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Robinsonville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Smith, Scott Baker, Ryan Chason, Jeremy Ray, Doug Purvis and Michael Strawbridge. Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Word, and Bobby Wooten.

Annie Laurie Amos Bell
Mrs. Annie Laurie Amos Bell, age 80, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025 in Atmore. She was born to Fillmore Frank Amos and Lucile Rhodes Amos. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Atmore. In her early years, she worked at Southland Telephone Company and was later a teller at United Bank. She had a deep unending love for her family and her Lord and Savior.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Clovers “Ray” Bell; her brother, Aubrey Gladden Amos.
Mrs. Bell is survived by her son, Alan (Susan) Bell of Foley, Ala.; daughter; Wendy Jury of Atmore; brother; Arnold Amos of Atmore; grandchildren, Meagan (Zack) Stewart of Atmore, Mallory (Keegan) Lambeth of Pelham, Ala., Garrett Gant of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Morgan Jury of Atmore; six great-grandchildren; Camden Stewart, Maci Stewart, Collin Stewart, Lawson Lambeth, Walker Lambeth, Ellis Lambeth, along with a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Atmore with Bro. Arnold Hendrix and Dr. Kevin Garrett officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.
Pallbearers will be Zack Stewart, Arnold Amos, Keegan Lambeth, Camden Stewart, David Amos and Kelby Amos.
