Martha Sue (Hale) Sanford

Mrs. Martha Sue (Hale) Sanford, age 85, of Olive Branch, Miss., passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Atmore, Ala. to John P. Hale and Blanche T. Hale.  She grew up in Atmore and attended Howard College (Samford University) in Birmingham, Ala. graduating in 1957 with a teaching degree.

Mrs. Sanford is survived by her loving and devoted husband of sixty-two years,  John C. Sanford, II of Olive Branch; daughter and son-in-law, Emily Turner (Sanford) Hugh and Mark Hugh, of Southaven, Miss.; son, John C. Sanford, III; sister and brother-in-law Jonni Lynn (Hale) Oakes and Bill Oakes of Burnt Corn, Ala.; three grandchildren, Emily L. (Hugh) Blakeney (Connor) of Nashville, Tenn.; James A Hugh (Kaylee) of Memphis, Tenn. and Amie Stanley of Pelham, Ala.  

She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her brother, Rodney Hale.  

Martha Sue was a leader in her family in many ways but mainly will be remembered for leading others to the Lord and showing them how to study the bible by Rightly Dividing.  A wonderful wife, mother, sister, and friend.  There are no words to describe how much she will be missed!

Graveside services were held Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore with Bro. Nolan Butler officiating.  Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Rebecca Lynn “Becky” Hadley Newsome

Mrs. Rebecca Lynn “Becky” Hadley Newsome, age 50, passed away May 6, 2025 at her home in Perdido, Ala. She was born in Atmore, Ala. to Betty and Roger Hadley at Greenlawn Hospital. She was known for her selflessness and for always putting the needs of others before her own. She had a deep love for country music, especially the songs of Alan Jackson.
Mrs. Newsome is survived by her husband, Terry Newsome;  her father, Roger Hadley and stepmother, Wanda Hadley; her children, Brad (Tera) Newsome of Bay Minette, Ala., Terrence (Sierra) Newsome of Stockton, Ala., Hadleigh Lynn Newsome of Bay Minette, Ala.; five grandchildren, Bentley Newsome, Eli Newsome, Brycen Newsome, Blayden Newsome and Talon Newsome;  her siblings, Jason (April) Hadley and Shawanna (Tyrone) James, all of Bay Minette, Jennifer (Gino) Accettullo of Ft. Walton, Fla., Josey (Sarah) Hadley and  Dawn Williams, all of Perdido; seventeen nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Flowers; stepfather, Robert Flowers and brother-in-law, Christopher Newsome.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC with Sister Helen Stewart officiating. Burial followed at Bryars McGill Cemetery.
The family received friends Saturday, May 10, 2025 from Noon until service time at 2 p.m., at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.
Pallbearers were Billy Gardner, Justin Ramer, Clayton Hadley, Dalton Lister, Dane Hayden and Jeremy Joiner.
Honorary pallbearers were Traegan James, Jace Hadley, Braiden Williams, Kainnan Pintarelli and Kin Kade Hadley.

Debra Jean Sims Albritton

Mrs. Debra Jean “Sis” or “Debbie” Sims Albritton, age 63, passed away Monday, May 5, 2025 at the age of 63. She was born in Atmore, Ala. Debbie was a beacon of love and compassion, whose life was dedicated to caring for others.
For 37 years, she served as an exceptional nurse, a profession that perfectly aligned with her compassionate spirit. Her dedication to her patients and their families was evident in every interaction, as she approached her work with kindness, empathy, and unwavering commitment. Debbie’s impact on the lives she touched will be felt for generations to come. Debbie had a great joy for cooking and baking, collecting antiques, and tending to her flower beds.
Mrs. Albritton is survived by her husband of forty-three years, Steve Albritton of Booneville, Ala.; three children, Ryan (Leslie) Albritton of Booneville, Kyle (Haley) Albritton of Spanish Fort, Ala. and Jessica Albritton of McCullough, Ala.;

four grandchildren, Brea Rolin, Hudson Albritton, Allie Albritton and Jocee Terhune; her sister, Pamela (Michael) Godwin of Booneville; two brothers, Terry Sims of McCullough and Thomas Sims of Booneville; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. She was a beloved sister and friend, known for her warm smile and generous heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace Edward (Betty Jean Gregson) Sims and one brother, Bobby Lassitter.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 12, 2025 from 1p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 12, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC with Brother Davison Carter officiating. Southwest Alabama Nurses Honor Guard will be performing the Nightingale Tribute and any nurses in attendance may wear their scrubs. Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery, in Uriah, Ala.
Pallbearers will be Chris Dunn, Charles Michael Gregson, Tim Gregson, Shannon Gregson, Claude Turberville and Brandon Blanton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Godwin, Jackson Reid and Cole Vice.

Stefani Lynn Huff

Mrs. Stefani Lynn Huff, age 53, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025 in Atmore, Ala. She was born in Louisville, Ky. and lived there for twenty-one years before relocating to Fredericksburg, Va. and had spent the last nine months in Atmore. She was a dedicated attendee of the First Baptist Church of Atmore and was also a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Fredericksburg. Her life revolved around grandchildren; volunteering at her church. The beach held a special place in her heart. She easily made friends wherever she went.
She was preceded in death by her son, Taylor Wolfe; grandparents, Bill and Betty Short and grandmother, Mary Elizabeth McCullum.
Mrs. Huff  is survived by her parents, Clyde (Linda) Williams of Davisville, Fla.; daughters-in-law, Cortnee Sipe of Jay, Fla., Kelsi Smith, of Fredericksburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Karcen Wolfe of Fredericksburg, Aubree Wolfe and Arianna Wolfe, all of Jay.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist of Atmore with Dr. Kevin Garrett officiating.

Tatum Reign McGhee

Infant Tatum Reign McGhee, precious baby boy of Whitney Long McGhee and Russell McGhee, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2025.  He was born March 1, 2025 in Mobile, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Bentley McGhee.

Tatum is survived by his parents; his brothers, Braylon McGhee, Brylon McGhee, Brantley McGhee and Ryder McGhee; his sister,  Rileigh McGhee; his grandparents, Chris (Sonia) Baughman of Las Vegas, N.V., John (Stephanie) Skipper and  Russell (Jeanette) McGhee, all of Atmore, Ala.; his great- grandparents, Hugh (Nancy) Long of Atmore; his aunts, Haley Baughman, Shonda Strehl, Virginia Radford;  his uncles, Nathan Baughman, Justin McGhee, Daniel Overton; numerous cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Johnson- Quimby Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Tew officiating. Interment will follow at New Home Cemetery in Poarch, Ala.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 12, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, Ala.

Flowers will be accepted, however in lieu of flowers donations in Tatum’s name can be made to the Ronald McDonald House.

Amy Denise Boutwell Hastings

Mrs. Amy Denise Boutwell Hastings, age 52, passed away at her home Wednesday, May 7, 2025. She was born in Century, Fla., but spent most of her life in Flomaton, Ala. She believed family was the most important thing in life. The time spent with children and grandchildren was upper most in her life. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed watching crime shows. She loved going for rides enjoying the freedom of the open road.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Bettie Strength Boutwell; brother, Herman Ander Boutwell.
Mrs. Hastings is survived by her loving husband of thirty years, Mark Hastings, Sr. of Flomaton; son, Mark Hastings, Jr. of Flomaton; two daughters, Faith Hastings (Jamison Bari) of Cantonment, Fla. and Leanna Brown of Atmore, Ala.; grandchild, Lillian “Lilly” Brown.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 1p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC. Burial will follow at Travelers Rest Cemetery.

Joseph Clyde Lowe

Mr. Joseph Clyde Lowe, age 77, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025Joe lived a life full of joy, compassion, and cherished traditions. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a beloved husband, devoted father, proud Paw Paw, cherished uncle, loyal friend, and loving brother. His warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family touched everyone who was blessed to have known him. He loved to fish, ride his golf cart, dance, sing, and cheer loudly for his favorite football team, Alabama. He enjoyed Gunsmoke on TV, playing lottery tickets and casino games.

He was the heart of the family. His laughter and funny jokes would fill every room. He reminded us to enjoy the moment and not take life too seriously. Joe didn’t just lift spirits—he led by example. He always showed all of us how to face life with courage, humor, and with an open heart. Joe leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless joyful memories—a life well-lived and well-loved.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Lowe; his father, Sheldon Lowe; and his grandparents, Ruth and Fred Byrd; best friends; Joe O’Barr, Lenzy “Pee-Wee” Williams.

Mr. Lowe is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Lowe; his children, Ashley Lowe, Stacey Lowe (Gary) and Tracey Reed (Joel); his grandchildren, Rickey, Makenzie, Britney, Lewis, Glen, Arianna and Alyssa; his four great-grandchildren; four bonus grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; his sisters, Pamela Williams, Robin Smith (Jeff) and Vicky Low Hill. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel, Atmore with Bro. Trevor Daughtry officiating.

Interment will follow in Judson Cemetery. The immediate family will have a private gathering with Joe from 12 – 12:30 p.m. 

The family will receive friend Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 12:30 p.m. until the service begins at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Freddie Wayne Mosley

Mr. Freddie Wayne Mosley, age 67, of Bay Minette, Ala., passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025 in New Mexico. He was born to William and Lillian Luker Mosley on in Bay Minette, Ala.    

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Donald Mosley and Norman Mosley and his sisters, Shirley Mosley, Martha Mosley and Laura Ikner.

Mr. Mosley is survived by his brother, Ronald (Faye) Mosley; his sisters, Linda Kirchharr and Nora Weaver; and a host of family and friends.
