Billy John Kight

Mr. Billy John Kight, age 82, gently passed away Friday, April 25, 2025 at his home. He was originally from Pensacola and had lived in Cantonment, Fla. before spending the last twenty-eight years in McDavid, Fla. He was a devoted member of Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church. His family will remember him fondly for the love and kindness he shared throughout his life. He loved spending his days fishing by the calm lake, feeling the gentle breeze as he waited for a bite. When he wasn’t by the water, you could find him busy in his workshop, crafting wooden pieces with care and skill. His happiest moments were those spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing stories and laughter together. He enjoyed riding his four-wheeler, exploring the trails nearby, and he took great pride in his garden, nurturing vibrant flowers and fresh vegetables. Family time was precious to him, and he cherished every moment spent with those he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Arthur (Lilly Dyal) Kight; son, Michael Kight; daughter, Margie Robertson.
Mr. Kight is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy Kight of McDavid; son, Mark and wife Sue Kight of Pensacola, Fla; daughter, Michelle and husband John Davidson of McGhee, Miss.; two sisters, Jean Nolan of Century, Fla. and Audra Cartwright of Pensacola.; six grandchildren, Michael (Mariena) Kight, Nikita (Dakotah) Sturgill, Janie Davidson, Sarah (Caleb) Browning, Devin (Lish) Kight and Erin (Hayden) Sullivan; eight great-grandchildren.

Albert Wayne Johnson

Mr. Albert Wayne Johnson, age 65, sadly passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025 in Atmore, Ala. He was born to his parents, the late Albert Marcus and Edna Roberta Johnson.
Family and friends will be informed about the services, which will take place at a later date.

Nina K. Lindsey

Mrs. Nina K. Lindsey, age 65, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Friday, May 2, 2025 in Mobile, Ala. She was born in Atmore to the late Willard Calvin and Eleanor Ernestine Davis. She graduated from Escambia County High School and received her Associates Degree from Faulkner State Community College. She was a member of Atmore First Assembly of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Lindsey is survived by her husband, Ben Lindsey, Jr. and one son, Ben (Charlene) Lindsey, III; one brother, Don (Sara) Davis of Atmore;  two sisters, Anita Hughes of Atmore and Judy (Randy) Baker of Oak Grove, Fla.; three grandchildren, Ben Lindsey, IV, Braxton Lindsey and Bryleigh Lindsey; extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Arnold Hendrix officiating. Interment will follow in Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Atmore.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Honor of Mrs. Lindsey to the American Diabetes Association.

Kameron Austin Davis

Mr. Kameron Austin Davis, age 31, sadly passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025 in Atmore, Ala. Born in Pensacola, Fla. he spent most of his life in Atmore.  His interests included tinkering on cars, low rider trucks, diving into paint and body work; drag racing; music filled his days, and video games. Spending time with his family, especially his little girl, is what made him happiest. Though he was laid back, he had a strong will and always ready to lend a helping hand to those around him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Felton Jones and Ingrid McHenry.
Mr. Davis is survived by his father, Wesley and wife, Paige of Atmore; mother, Fedelia and husband Tommy of Summerdale, Ala.; daughter, Grace “Gracie; grandparents, Ann (Larry) Davis of Atmore; brother, Kyle and wife Kasey Atkins of Atmore; sister, Sommer Davis of Atmore; uncles, Steve Davis of Atmore, and Corey McHenry of N.D.; nephew, Kannon Atkins; niece, Daizee-Mae Alexis Jaye.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Reverend Kay Vickery officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Thelma Irene Phillips

Mrs. Thelma Irene Phillips, age 89, passed away peacefully in Atmore, Ala. Monday, April 28, 2025. She was originally from Florala, Ala. but spent many years living in Bay Minette, Ala. She was a devoted member of Pine Level Primitive Baptist Church. She had a deep love for gardening, where she spent many happy hours. Family gatherings were the highlight of her life. After more than ten years at Walmart, she became a familiar and friendly face to customers and coworkers alike
She was preceded in death by her parents, John (Ethel Wilson) Etheridge; husband, K.C. Phillips; son, Keith Fallon Phillips; three brothers, Lamar Etheridge, Rowan Etheridge and Ralph Etheridge; four sisters, Nel Norsworthy Hazel Etheridge, Jewel Etheridge and Helen Etheridge.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by her three sons, Carl and wife Peggy Phillips of Foley, Ala., Forrest and wife Debra and Markus Phillips, all of Bay Minette, Ala.; brother, Steve Etheridge of Dahlonega, Ga.; sister, Margie Bohr of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren

Bernie Lynn Kimmons

Mr. Bernie Lynn Kimmons, age 66, passed away at his home Friday, April 26, 2025. He was born in Atmore, Ala., spent part of his life in Flomaton, Ala. before moving to Cedar Bluff, Ala. where he lived for the last twenty-five years.  He was a man full of life and passions. He had a love for racing, drag racing and motorcycles. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was known for his playful spirit, always ready to prank his friends and family. A skilled carpenter, he dedicated most of his life to crafting beautiful things with his hands. He had a sweet tooth for Little Debbie cakes, which always brought a smile to his face. Surviving scarlet fever as a child earned him the endearing nickname “Bernie Baby,” a reminder of his strength and resilience.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Bud (Claudean Boutwell) Kimmons; brother, Timothy Kimmons.
Mr. Kimmons is survived by his wife of thirty  years, Shelia Kimmons of Cedar Bluff, Ala.; son, Steven and wife Krystal Kimmons of Cedar Bluff;; daughter, Ashley Lynn and husband Joshua Pasquill of Saraland, Ala.; brothers, Charles and wife Kathy Kimmons and Donnie and wife Linda Kimmons all of Pensacola, Fla. and Douglas and Melinda Kimmons of Andalusia, Ala.; sister, Cindy and  husband Jesse of Burch of Range, Ala.; grandchildren, Mackenzie Kimmons, Izabella Odom, MaKayla Kimmons, Shelby Odom, Maleigha Kimmons, Maiya Kimmons, Eamon Pasquill, Jojo Pasquill and Charlotte Pasquill.
Funeral service were held Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 1p.m. at Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Church with Brother Donnie Kimmons officiating. Burial followed at Beulah Chapel Cemetery.

Elwood E. Barden Jr.

Elwood (Woody) E. Barden Jr. was born November 26, 1946. He passed away April 20, 2025, at his home in Colonial Beach, Virginia. He was 78 years old.

He was the first child of Staff Sargent Elwood Barden and Ruby Lee Gillis.

Growing up, he had a keen interest in all types of animals, insects, and snakes. This interest eventually led to his life’s work.

Following high school in 1966, he received a music scholarship to Perkinston Community College, in Mississippi, but quickly decided music was not his calling,

He joined the Navy and requested training in the electrical technical field. The Navy sent him to Hospital Corpsman school where he discovered a passion for medicine. He was accepted by Auburn University and graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in June 1979.

Mr. Barden is survived by his wife, Leslie Ann Bryant; two children, David Barden (Roxanne), Leslie Wilkens (Brent); seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four brothers and sisters, Becky, Chris, Debra and Douglas.

The family received friends Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 3:45 p.m. until service time at 4 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 10640 Kings Hwy, King George, Va. 22485.

Dora Jennifer Oliver

Mrs. Dora Jennifer “Jenny” Oliver age 72, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025. She was born to Preston and Alice Nell Jackson Hall in Atmore, AL, and lived her entire life in Perdido, Ala.   She was a faithful member of Hall’s Fork Assembly of God.  Jenny was a retired medical secretary with Holman and Fountain Correctional Facility, and later was the secretary of Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Preston and Nell Hall; her first husband, Anthony Hadley; her son, Jonathon Oliver and her brother, Tommy Hall.

Mrs. Oliver is survived by her husband, Ronald Oliver; her children, Angie (Jerry) Cowart of Pine Grove, Ala., Tammy (Chris) Chandler of Monroeville, Ala., Jimmy (Sheila) Oliver of Tulsa, Okla. and Shay (Jerry) Stankewitz of Poteau, Okla.; her brothers, Rayford Hall of Mobile, Ala. and Clifford Hall of Perdido, Ala.; her grandchildren, Jessica (Blake) Bossard of Flomaton, Ala., Tonya (Marcus) Loftis of Lottie, Ala., Brittany (Ian) Reach of McDavid, Fla., Brianna (Josh) Brown of Atmore and Brian Cowart of Pine Grove, Ala.; her great-grandchildren, Brayden Harrelson, Ashlyn Loftis, Kinzleigh Loftis all of Lottie,  Jonathan Cowart and Katie Reach of McDavid, Fla., Ezra Brown of Atmore, Alana and Brooklyn Bossard of Flomaton along with a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 2, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel in Atmore with Bro. Wendell Hadley and Bro. Malcolm Harrelson officiating.  Interment followed in Guy’s Chapel Cemetery in Rabun, Ala.

Active pallbearers were Ian Reach, Josh Brown, Blake Bossard, C.P. Hall, Collin Hall, and Colton Hall.

The family received friends Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimb Funeral Home.

Franklin L. King 

Mr. Franklin L. King, age 84, of Perdido, Ala. passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025 at his residence. He was born in Perdido, Ala. to William Lee and Mamie Stewart King. He served in the United States Army.  He retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Mobile, Ala. and was a Funeral Director Assistant at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home for many years.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn King and three brothers, Byron King, Rayford King and Ralph King.

Mr. King is survived by his son, Roger (Judy) King of Dyas, Ala.;  his daughter, Susan King of Perdido, Ala.; brother, Ron (Mona) King of Destin, Fla.; his sisters, Janice Murphree of Holly Pond, Ala. and Barbara Welch of Dacula, Ga.; three grandchildren, Trever King, Tyler Biggs and Shannon Johnson; seven great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Hadley, Bro. Danny Alldredge and Sister Helen Stewart officiating.  Interment will follow in Bryars-McGill Cemetery in Perdido.

Janice Eve Nichols

Mrs. Janice Eve Nichols, aged 65, passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 20, 2025. She was originally from Huntsville, Ala., and had lived at Lake Martin and Wetumpka, Ala. before spending the last fifteen years of her life in Wilmer, Ala.

She had a passion for crocheting. Horses held a special place in her heart. Her family was everything to her, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She cherished the time spent with her beloved Dave at car shows. Attending pow-wows was another favorite activity. Each moment was a treasure, woven together like the yarn in her hands.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William (Norval Allen) Pitts; husband Dave Nichols; son, Jason Nichols; sister, Janet Pitts.
Mrs. Nichols is survived by her son, Chris and Kelly Townley of Wetumpka ; daughter, Melissia Townley and Erich Lechner; grandchildren, Mason (Morgan) Dempsey, Bailey Eberwein, Alaina Townley, Olivia Townley, Evan Nichols and Dallas Nichols; great-grandchildren, Maelyn Dempsey and Myles who is on the way;  her beloved dogs, Willow and Little Bit.
A celebration of life will take place Saturday, May 17, 2025, at her home. This gathering is a time for family and friends to come together, share memories, and honor her legacy. Everyone is welcome to join in this special event to celebrate the joy she brought to our lives. Please bring your favorite stories and any photos you would like to share, as we remember the beautiful moments we had with her.

Warnell Williams

Mr. Warnell Williams, age 71, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025 at

Saad’s Hospice in Mobile, Ala. He was born to Betty Lee Williams and Marcellus McCreary. He lived life marching to the beat of his own drum. Though he never had children of his own, his love for his nieces and nephews was immeasurable, and he held a special place in the hearts of all who knew him.

He was a graduate of Escambia County High School and spent 43 years working at Standard Furniture in Bay Minette, Ala. Known for his dependability, he rarely took a sick day and often worked through vacation time. His life was a testament to hard work, loyalty, and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures – like watching Alabama football and spending time with good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Marvin; Williams and Willie Williams; his sister, Beatrice Williams; and his nephew, Antonio (Bridget) Richardson.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted sister, Cynthia Williams of Atmore; his nieces, Wanda Riley of Atmore, Natasha (Charles) Lambert of Wetumpka, Ala., Latisha Ries of Stone Mountain, Ga.; his nephews, Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Shelton Williams, USMC, and his wife Lisa of Eastern N. C.; Wayne Barnes, of Atmore and Maurice Ries of Pensacola, Fla.; siblings on his father’s side (the McCreary family); his grandnieces and grandnephew – Lashanda (Shelton) Forney, Krystie Wiliams, and Andre (Diedre) Riley, all of Atmore; a devoted friend, Connie Ray Dees of Atmore; a host of other grandnieces and grandnephews; extended family; and cherished friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Faith Center. Burial followed at Piece-Rabb Cemetery.

Phyllis Ann Brown

Ms. Phyllis Ann Brown, age 73, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Friday, April 25, 2025 was born to the late Willie Lee Brown and Marvin Brown, she moved to Seattle, Wash. and returned to Atmore in 1994.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed serving her community as a volunteer at Sav-a-Life and was a member of Grace Fellowship. She loved her family and helping anyone in the need of help night or day.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jonny Brown; her sister, Ola May Lyons; brother, Marvin Brown; and her life partner, Donnie Parker.

Ms. Brown is survived by her daughters, Patricia Brown, Pensacola, Fla. and Amanda Parker Knight, Lanette, Ala.; two sons, Keddrick Parker and Donnie Parker, Bay Minette, Ala.; a host of grandchildren, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Grace Fellowship Church with Pastor Gene King presiding. Burial followed at Pollard Cemetery, Brewton, Ala.

Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews.

Trenton Lamar Gollotte

Mr. Trenton Lamar Gollotte, age 30, sadly passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in Mobile, Ala. He was born and raised in Mobile, spending most of his life in the same city he called home. He loved spending his days out in nature, casting a line into the water while fishing. He loved family gatherings, peaceful walks in the woods, enjoying the sounds of birds and rustling leaves. Auburn football games were special for him, where he cheered alongside friends and family. The creek was a favorite spot, where he was always grateful for the simple pleasures life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stanford D’Wayne Gollotte and mother, Lisa Henagan Berry; grandparents, Stanford and Margaret Gollotte; grandpa, Mickie Lamar Henagan; great-grandma, Annie Pearl Henagan.
Mr. Golotte is survived by his wife, Rachel Anderson, Semmes, Ala.; son, Kayden Dodge, Mobile, Ala.; three brothers, Stetson Brock Miller of Theodore, Ala., Dalton Gollotte of Mobile and Ethan Towles of Moss Point, Miss.; three sisters, Dixie Gollotte (Charles McConnel) and Destiny Gollotte, both of Mobile and Haylei Henagan of Opp, Ala.; nieces and nephews, Everleigh McConnell, Brantsen McConnell and Khleo Gollotte.
Funeral services will be held Friday May 9, 2025 at 1p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Dereck Woods officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery.
