Reid State Technical College announces the appointment of Willie White, a highly accomplished educator and decorated coach, as the head coach of its women’s basketball team. Coach White brings over 40 years of leadership experience in high school and collegiate athletics.
“This exciting transition follows Coach White’s impactful two seasons as Assistant Coach for the Reid State Men’s Basketball Team, where he played a key role in fostering a competitive and disciplined squad,” Reid State Athletic Director Brac Brady said. “Now Coach White will be leading the women’s program. His focus will be on cultivating a culture of excellence, accountability, and opportunity for our female student-athletes to achieve their full potential both on and off the court.”
Coach White’s coaching career includes significant success at Escambia Academy, where he guided the Varsity Boys Basketball Team to the 2022 AISA Class AA Final Four and the 2021 State Runner-Up title in his debut year. His football teams at Escambia Academy also achieved consecutive State Runner-Up finishes. Earlier in his career, he earned Coach of the Year honors at Monroe County High School, where he also served as assistant principal.
Beyond his coaching achievements, White has held various educational and administrative positions. He holds an Education Specialist Degree and multiple Master’s Degrees from Alabama State University, along with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of South Alabama.
“We are excited to welcome Coach White as the new leader of our Women’s Basketball Program at Reid State,” President of RSTC President Dr. Coretta Boykin. “As we work to build a strong and competitive program, Coach White will play a vital role in laying a foundation for success on and off the court. This is truly an exciting time to be a Reid State Lion.”
White is an active member of New Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Mexia, Ala., where he serves as a deacon, financial secretary, and adult Sunday School teacher.
