Special to Atmore News
The members of Billy Glenn Rushing Post 90 had a new experience in March, we held our first meeting external to our old Post Facility. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the great food at David’s Catfish while we fellowshipped and held our monthly business meeting. It was less formal but just as informative.
We discussed the Boys and Girls State Programs and the hope that each of the schools in our service area will select and submit more excellent young men and women to attend these programs on the University of Alabama Campus. Legion members Billy Elder and Dave Graham are our points of contact and are reaching out to the schools and to local businesses to seek support for these educational programs.
We also had the opportunity to honor Mr. Rodger Presley. He was presented a Certificate for 50 years of Continuous membership with the American Legion. Commander Graham presented the certificate signed by National Commander James A. LaCoursiere, Jr. Rodger has served as the Post Commander and Post Adjutant and volunteered many, many hours over the years. The certificate reads:
“Issued in grateful appreciation for faithful and dedicated allegiance to the ideals of the American Legion. Be it known that RODGER PRESLEY a longtime and dedicated member of the American Legion Post 0090, Department of Alabama has been certified to have been a member in good standing continuously for 50 Years.
And be it further known that such record of consistent loyalty to The American Legion merits the honor of being cited as an outstanding contributor to the programs of The American Legion.
In witness thereof, this testimonial of personal gratitude is given under the hand of the National Commander, and duly attested by the National Adjutant, this 15th day of March 2025.”
Congratulations and thank you, Rodger.
We look forward to continuing our community service and to remain active with American Legion Programs.
