Mary A. Peavy

Mrs. Mary A. Peavy, age 87, of Atmore, Ala. passed away on her eighty-seventh birthday Wednesday, February 28, 2025. She was born in Franklin, Ala. to Adam and Nancy Kyles. She was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was known for her faith, unwavering kindness and commitment to her community. Her kitchen was a gathering place where family and friends enjoyed her delicious meals and heartfelt hospitality.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willie James Peavy; sons, Nathaniel and Willie Peavy and her daughters, Tawaka Peavy and Patricia Foster; her sisters, Josephine Jenkins, Georgia Mae Showers and Jane Kyles; her brothers, A.C. Kyles, Willie Kyles Sr., Peter Kyles, Eddie Lee Kyles, John Kyles, Leonard Kyles and James Kyles.

Mrs. Peavy is survived by her son, Rickey (ArthaRee) Peavy of Bay Minette, Ala; six daughters, Linda Brooks, Kathy Peavy, Jennifer Flavors (Fred) and Shelia Peavy, all of Atmore, Lisa (Bobby) McGinnis of Perdue Hill, Ala., Lady Edna (Pastor Bruce) Hooks, Sr. of Bay Minette; one brother, Leroy Kyles of Chicago, Ill.; beloved bonus daughter, Mary America; loving daughter-in-law, Mary Thompson of Minneapolis, Mn.; special and caring neighbors, Pastor Monroe Tucker and Nora Tucker, Pastor Freddie and Ora Banks, Devon and Shan Brown; twenty-four grandchildren; sixty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear and loving friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel’s Faith Center with Pastor Bruce Hooks, officiating. Interment followed at Stallworth Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Terrance Bean, Joshua Hooks, James Brooks, Bobby McGinnis, Jr. Corterell McGinnis and Skylar King.

Flower bearers were her granddaughters.

Rosie Tolbert Richerson

Mrs. Rosie Tolbert Richerson, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, March 15, 2025. She was born in Brewton, Ala. to William Edward (Ethel Higdon) Tolbert. She grew up in Jay, Fla. before spending most of her life in Repton, Ala. She was known to many by Mama Rose or MawMaws. She was a devoted member of the Flomaton United Methodist Church, where she found community and support throughout her life. She will be remembered for her kindness and the love she shared with those around her.
She had a deep love for sewing and spent many happy hours crafting beautiful quilts. Her garden was filled with colorful flowers, where she found joy tending to each plant. Family meant everything to her, and she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even her great-great-grandchildren. In her cozy home, she enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows, especially “Gunsmoke” and “Family Feud.” To keep her mind active, she liked doing jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles, always finding delight in putting pieces together or solving clues.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reverend Bruce Richerson; daughter, Audrey Marie Sims; numerous siblings; son-in-law, Thomas Macks Sr.

Mrs. Richerson is survived by her grandchildren, Thomas “Tom” (LaWanda) Macks Jr. of Flomaton, Ala, Marlina Dunsford of Florida; great-grandchildren, McKayla Macks, Keyanna Macks, Lynard Macks, Cameron Biggs, Joshua Dunsford, Anna Dunsford, Alex Dunsford and Zoey Dunsford; great-great-grandchildren, Haylie Macks, Damon Macks, Grayson Comalander and Lexi Macks.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Springhill Methodist Church with Reverend Speedy Bondurant officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Methodist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Springhill Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be McKayla Macks, Lynard Macks, Matthew Weekley, Michael Smith, Dink Evans, Travis Odom and Joshua Dunsford.

Mr. Ervin Lee, Jr., age 74, of Atmore, Ala., a U.S. Army veteran, passed away at his home, Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Emanuel Faith Center, 710 East Ridgeley St., Atmore with Bishop Wayne Johnson, Pastor, officiating. Inhumation with military honors will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 21, 2025 from 2 – 6 p. at the funeral home.

Dr. Bishop Willie Lee Williams, age 86, of Atmore, Ala., Founder of Jones Street True Pentecostal Holiness Church in Atmore, passed away answered Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Mobile Infirmary.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, 157 Carver Ave., Atmore with Rev. Willie Hawthorne, Host Pastor and Prophet Shawn Williams, Pastor of Jones Street True Pentecostal Holiness Church, eulogist. Retirement of his remains will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 21, 2025 from 2 – 8 p.m. at Jones Street True Pentecostal Holiness Church, 90 Jones Street, Atmore.

Brian Keith Janes

Mr. Brian Keith Janes, age 59, of Millbrook, Ala., passed away Monday, March 10, 2025. He was born to Dewey Hamilton Janes and Margaret Jefferies Janes.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Janes and sister, Deborah Janes.

Mr. Janes is survived by his wife, Tracy Janes of Millbrook; mother, Margaret Janes of Atmore, Ala.; son, Carson (Destiny) Janes of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Marina (Matt) Gilmore and granddaughter, Aviela Gilmore, both of Montgomery, Ala.; brother, Jerry (Danna) Janes and nieces, Anna Grace Janes and Jamison Janes, all of Atmore. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, March 23, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel.
