Escambia County Sheriff Heath Jackson was awarded the 2025 Alabama Sheriffs Association (ASA) Sheriff of the Year Award on January 21, during the association’s winter meeting in Hoover.
According to an ASA press releasee, Jackson was nominated for his “heroic actions that occurred in 2023 when Sheriff Jackson rescued 4 people that had become stranded on Burnt Corn Creek in rising flood waters. The children were found clinging to tree limbs when Sheriff Jackson rescued them with the aid of a jet ski.”
The nomination reportedly included a letter recognizing the county sheriff “for his leadership and service as the Escambia County Sheriff.”
