The Annual Rosa Parks Prayer Breakfast is set for Saturday, February 1, 9 a.m., at Greater Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church. The event is always held at no charge and is open to the public (16 and older).
This year’s speaker is the Rev. Jamal E. Browder, Sr., a native of Boston, Mass.
In 1994, Rev. Browder confessed Christ and was baptized at the tender age of 10 at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of his late grandfather, Rev. George W. O’Neal, Jr.
Rev. Browder graduated from the Boston Public School System. He also graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Finance from Alabama State University. Rev. Browder is also named among the Who’s Who Honor Society. He is a graduate of Selma University with a Master’s in Pastoral Theology and Leadership.
During his tenure at Alabama State University, he served under the late Rev. Rufus L. Tolbert at New Center Missionary Baptist Church, Selma, Alabama as Choir Director, Men’s Ministry Leader and as a Sunday School teacher.
In 2005, the Holy Spirit directed Rev. Browder in joining Pastor Edward J. Nettles and the Freewill Missionary Baptist Church. While there, he served in the Music Ministry, Christian Education Department, and in the Men’s Ministry as a coach of the “Enough is Enough Campaign.” Rev. Browder confessed his calling and received his ministerial license on October 20, 2006, and was ordained October 5, 2008.
He is married to Nakita Willis Browder and together they have four children: Jeremiah, Jayden, Raina and Jamal Jr. In September 2010 Rev. Browder was called to pastor North Star Missionary Baptist Church, where they are “Exalting the Savior, Educating the Saints, and Evangelizing the Sinner.”
