Lawrence “Larry” Eugene Faircloth

Mr. Lawrence “Larry” Eugene Faircloth, age 43, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, La. He was born in Atmore, Ala. to Richard and Brenda (O’Barr) Faircloth.  He was a member and employee of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. He was an active member of St. Anna’s Episcopal Church of Poarch, Ala. He loved spending time with his family on vacations, watching the Braves, and Auburn football.
What everyone admired most about Larry “Wimp” was their genuine friendship. He was an authentic, loyal, and true friend to many. In a world where it’s easy to lose sight of what matters, Larry always thought the best of everyone, believed in second chances, and always had your back. Whether you needed a listening ear, a shoulder to lean on, or a moment of laughter to brighten your day, he was the go-to person.
“Family isn’t always defined by blood; sometimes, it’s the people who show up for you in ways that words can’t express.” Larry, believed in this kind of love.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Calvin and Bobbie Helen (Palmer) Faircloth of Mobile, Ala. and Joe and Bessie (McGhee) O’Barr, Sr. of Poarch.
Mr.  Faircloth is survived by his wife, Tara (Porter) Faircloth of Atmore; his daughter, Elizabeth Faircloth of Atmore and his son, Lukas Faircloth of Atmore; a sister, Amanda Peebles of Atmore; a brother, Gerald (Tiffany) Faircloth of Atmore; a cousin, Keesha (Josh) Frye of Atmore; three nieces and one nephew of Atmore; three Godchildren of Atmore; Alia French of Atmore and Abigail Whitaker of Pensacola, Fla., who were always by his side.
Funeral service will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Dr. Salem Saloon officiating. Burial will follow at Judson Creek Indian Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael French, Jacob Thomas, Michael Hipa, Chad Odom, Charles O’Barr, John O’ Barr, Devin Rodriguez, Nicholaus McGhee.

Mildred Ann Ford

Mildred Ann Ford of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2025 at West Florida Hospital, Pensacola, Fla.

John David Williams 

Mr. John David Williams, age 77, passed away, Thursday, January 23, 2025 at his residence in Goodway, Ala. He was a native of Uriah and Goodway, Ala. areas. He retired from Vanity Fair Mills with many years of service. He was a man of simple joys and deep passions. He loved fishing; treasure hunting yard sales, looking for hidden gems and unique finds; watching westerns and fishing shows.

His heart belonged to the mountains, where he loved to travel and explore. As a proud member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, he cherished his heritage and shared stories about it with his family. Above all, he held his family close to his heart and found joy in attending church, where he connected with his community and celebrated his faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis (Minnie Lee Brooks) Williams; four brothers, Charles Williams, Albert Williams, Gene Williams, Leroy Williams and two sisters, Bobbie Ann Crowley and Judy Dianna Williams.
Mr. Williams is survived by his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Sue Carol Williams of Goodway; one son, Michael Peavy, of Mobile, Ala.; two daughters, Tammy Lynn Peavy of Monroeville, Ala. and Sandy Peavy (Kevin) McIntosh of Perdido Beach, Ala.; three brothers, Buddy (Rosie) Williams of Franklin, Ala., Willis (Alice) Williams, of Mexia, Ala. and Don (Vicky) Williams of McCullough, Ala.; four sisters, Montez McMillan of Little River, Ala., Orbaneze  Day of  Poarch, Ala. and Louise Gibson, of Claiborne, Ala.; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Brother Jerry May officiating.  Burial followed at Semirah Springs Cemetery.

Erlene McCall Pugh

Mrs. Erlene McCall Pugh, age 96, of Oak Grove, Fla. passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025 in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Atmore, Ala. to Thomas and Dora Lucille Walker McCall. She was a loving wife, mother and   grandmother.  She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold L. Pugh; her grandson, Shawn W. Pugh and her siblings, Wildon Wayne McCall, CWO James Edward McCall and Calvin R. McCall.

Mrs. Pugh is survived by her children, Donald L. (Donna) Pugh of Cantonment, Fl., Darryl (Concha) Pugh of Canton, Ga. and Connie (Steven) Hart of Oak Grove; her sister, Norman Jean Taylor of Monroeville, AL; her grandchildren, Jennifer Nolan, David Pugh, Rachel Losier, Brian Hart, Denise Bushaw, and Daniel Hart and her eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dennis Terry officiating.  Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Oak Grove, Fla.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Cheryl “Cheri” Parker

Mrs. Cheryl “Cheri” Parker, age 64, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend passed away January 13, 2025 due to complications during surgery. Cheri believed her determination to be with her son, Richard during his time of need, would be enough for her to withstand anything she would face during surgery. It was a true testament of a mother’s love as she exclaimed, “I just want to put my hands on my son” as she lovingly cared for Larry during his decline.
She was born to George “Jackie” Hinote and Jane Collaway Hinote of Bay Minette, Ala. She was a 1981 graduate of Baldwin County High School. /she and her husband were proud members of Rabun Church of God and Youth Directors for many years. Their love for God was the driving force that enabled them to inspire many youth throughout their ministry.
She found her true calling and attained her nursing degree from Faulkner St. College where she continued to share her love for others as a home health nurse. Her true nature shined as her servant’s heart was revealed. As Cheri reminisced of past patients, her eyes would shine bright as she fondly dwelled over the memories of the families she had served.

She was proceeded in death by her grandparents, Kazzie Hinote and Alice Mae Hinote, Richard Callaway and Lucille Johnson Callaway; step-grandmother, Delores Wallace; mother, Jane Hinote; husband, Larry Parker; granddaughter, Meghan Meyers.
Mrs. Parker is survived by father, George “Jackie” Hinote; Step-mother, Annette Hinote; sister, Ellen “Sissy” Toler; children, Richard Parker, Brian Parker, (Malea) Lynette Parker Gollott, (Gordon); grandchildren, Joshua Dye, Brian Parker, Dylan Meyers. Devin McCartney, (Ian); great-grandchildren, Bryce Truitt, Jaxon Truitt, Paisley Longman, Pyrrha Dye, Maggie McCraney; many loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A Christian service and visitation will be held Lighthouse Tabernacle Church of God, Hwy 47 Rabun, Ala. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 26, 2025 between 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Services will be held Monday, January 27, 2025 at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers are Tony Martin, Yancy Toler, Jeffery Parker, Adam Parker, Landon Toler, Peyton Toler.

Mary G. Miller

Mrs. Mary G. Miller, age 102, of Loogootee, Ind., passed away peacefully at Ketcham Memorial Center on January 22, 2025.  She was born in Montgomery, Ind. To the late John J. and Amanda (Gingerich) Stoll.  A devoted member of the Providence Mennonite Church, she was known for her love of quilting, crocheting, sewing, and making blankets. She also enjoyed making noodles and took great joy in teaching her nieces and nephews this cherished skill.

Mary was first married to Jacob Graber on July 20, 1946, and they shared 51 wonderful years together until his passing on October 15, 1997. She later married Amos H. Miller on December 20, 2002, who sadly passed away shortly after on January 20, 2003.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jacob; her second husband, Amos; her parents; and her siblings, Edna (Henry) Knepp,  Jacob (Mary) Stoll,  Homer (Elizabeth) Stoll, Raymond (Betty) Stoll, Leona (Joe) Miller, Alvin Stoll, Lewis (Katie) Stoll, Henry (Katie) Stoll, Noah Stoll, and Lester (Mary Ann) Stoll, as well as two step-sons-in-law and one step-grandchild.

Mrs. Miller  is survived by her step-children, Doug (Diane) Miller of Mobile, Ala., Don (Carol) Miller of Auburn, Ind., Rhoda (Harold) Weldy of Century, Fla., Dallas (Fern) Miller of Elkhart, Ind., Dan (Phyllis) Miller of McComb, Miss., Connie (Dave) Wagler of Cannelburg, Ind., Joy Nisly of Hutchinson, Ks.,  KiTrula (Richard) Thomas of Middlebury, Ind., Lola (Walt) Holifield of Summit, Miss., and Carol (Jim) Hochstetler of Atmore, Ala.; thirty-seven step-grandchildren; sixty-seven  step-great-grandchildren, and 1 step-great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Ruth Stoll of Linton, Ind.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and great-great-great-nieces and great-great-great-nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Providence Mennonite Church, with burial following in the church cemetery.

The family received friends Friday, January 24, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church.

Joseph Braxton Thomley 

Mr. Joseph Braxton Thomley, Sr., age 85, of Perdido, Ala., passed away Friday January 24, 2025 in Mobile, Ala.  He was born in White House Fork, Ala. to William Benjamin and Freida Lezeita Rider Thomley.  He was a heavy equipment operator with Gulf Equipment and served in the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, William Timothy Burl Thomley and his brother, Rev. Angelo Thomley.

Mr. Thomley is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Betty Weeks Thomley; his son, Joey (Sherry) Thomley of Perdido; his daughter, LaDonna (Randy) Carpenter of Perdido; his brothers, George (Retha) Thomley of Tensaw, Ala. and Dwayne (Judy) Thomley of Baraga, Mich.; his sisters, Billie (Roy) Foster of Pineville, Fla., Betty Joan (Conny) Brady of Mobile, Ala. and Neita (Dewayne) Hall of Lottie, Ala. along with six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 31, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Splinter Hill Holiness Church in Perdido with Bro. James Peacock and Bro. David Baggett officiating.  Interment will follow in Bryars-McGill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Joey Thomley, Hayley Thomley, Adam Thomley, Camron Ganey, Brandon Rolin and James Bryars.

William Russell “Rusty” Slate

Mr. William Russell “Rusty” Slate, age 57, of Atmore, Ala. passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025.  He was born in Hattiesburg, Miss.  He was a retired Superintendent with the Oil Industry. He loved the outdoors! He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He also enjoyed woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Hansford Slate, Sr. and Linda Jackson Slate, and his brother, Ronald H. Slate, II.

Mr. Slate is survived by his wife, Tracey Mason Slate of Atmore; his son, T.J. Jarrell of Atmore, AL; his brothers, Tony (Sandra) Slate of Bratt, FL and Tim (Leizl) Slate of Atmore; and his sister, Melanie (Thomas) Guy of Atmore..

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
