Donnie Joe Victor
Mr. Donnie Joe Victor, age 68, of Byrneville, Fla., passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024. He was born in Atmore, Ala. to K.P. Victor and Sarah Long Victor and raised in Christian Home, McDavid, Fla. He was an Ernest Ward graduate and attended Holy Grown Holiness Church. He was a heavy equipment operator for Escambia County, Ala. and the City of Atmore for years prior to retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Kathy Hall, Alice Merchant and her husband, Steve and Faye Victor; his brothers, Jimmy Victor and Phillip Victor; his niece, Angel Hall and nephews, J.R. Victor and Tony Merchant.
Mr. Victor is survived by his wife, Sandra White Victor; his sons, Donnie Jason Victor and James Brandon Victor; his sisters, Janie (Billy) Criswell and Londi (Ray) Himes; his brother, Johnny Victor; his grandchildren, Kymberlee, Emmalee, D.J., Chassity, Bubba and Sadie along with his great-grandchildren, Ashton, Ryder, Saige, Tyler, Ayla and Kayleana.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Floyd officiating. Interment followed in Christian Home Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be John Fowler, Cody Fowler, PJ Thomas, Randall Morris, Ray Himes and Jerry Haskew.

Elishia Georgette Autrey Franks
Mrs. Elishia Georgette Autrey Franks, age 69, affectionately called Libbie, was born to Eddie and Thelma Autrey. The fourth of ten children she was called Libbie because her older brothers and sister couldn’t pronounce her name. Her mother then decided that they could just call her Libbie. She grew up attending Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, Atmore, Ala. and more recently, she became a member of Emmanuel’s Faith Center Church in Atmore. She attended the Escambia County Training School; completed her education in Lansing, Mich.; attended Lansing Community College studying Interior Design; completed Cosmetology Training at Craig’s College of Beauty in Lansing and was a licensed cosmetologist for many years. After moving to Mobile, Ala. she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) until retirement. She was a true girlie girl, with a love for jewelry, makeup, perfume and hair. She had a warm and kind personality, and a witty sense of humor. She was an awesome cook. Her favorite food was Olive Garden spaghetti.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Eddie Autrey, Jr. and Barry Autrey.
Mrs. Franks is survived by her husband, Willie Pete Franks; her sons, Ross-Rogus (Candace) Autrey of Louisville, Ky. and Charles (Joella) Autrey of Spanish Fort, Ala.; one daughter, Achaia (Dana) Cunningham of Mobile, Ala; three step-children, Nicole Cameron of Little Rock, Ark., Willie Franks, Jr. of Bay Minette, Ala., Taurus (Tameka) Law of Jacksonville, Fla.; ten grandchildren, Jamaya, Jayden, Jermaine, Charlisaee, Teshearia, Carrie, Keldrian, Deja, Dana Jr., and Davale; one great-granddaughter, Marleigh;

Joanne Patricia Meek
Mrs. Joanne Patricia Meek, age 72, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024 in Century, Fla. She had a deep love for art and coloring, finding joy in every brushstroke and hue. Her home was filled with her cherished collection of roosters, each one telling a story. Weekend adventures to yard sales and thrift stores were a highlight, where she loved hunting for hidden treasures. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her immense happiness, as they created memories together. She found peace in her church community and especially looked forward to decorating for the holidays, filling her home with cheer. Always by her side was her favorite dog, Peanut, who accompanied her everywhere, adding an extra layer of warmth to her day.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Spies Zook; one son, Lance Barrow and one sister, Darlene “Toni” Zook.
Mrs. Meek is survived by her children, Cherokee Meek of Okla., Jimmy Lee Meek of Brewton, Ala., Shawn Barrow of Flomaton, Ala. and Joey Meek; three brothers, Jerry, Larry and Mark; one sister, Betty “Bambi” Reid; seven grandchildren, Tamara, Jordan, Jayden, Kailynne, Matthew, Zayne and Zach and five great-grandchildren, AmberLee, Sophia, Gracelynn, Oliver, Eleanor and a good friend, Barbara Williams.

Ouida Louise Troutman McGill
Mrs. Ouida Louise Troutman McGill, age 88, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024 in Atmore, Ala. She was a native of Atmore and a dedicated member of Brooks Memorial Baptist Church with a bright spirit that reflected her love for life. She retired as a telephone operator for Southland Telephone Company with many years of service. She enjoyed tending to her yard, where her hard work showed in the beautiful lawn she maintained. Watching her sons and grandchildren play sports brought her great joy, and she cherished quiet moments with a good book and her favorite shows, Wheel of Fortune and Brenda Gannt Cooking. Known for her delicious cooking, she made the best cornbread, lima beans, pound cake, and biscuits, and she never missed a chance to prepare a special cake for her family’s birthdays. With her morning coffee in hand, she also loved cheering for Alabama football and softball. Above all, Mrs. McGill adored spending time with her family, embodying the warmth and charm of a true Southern lady.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl (Maggie Mason) Troutman; husband, Lowell Stephen McGill, Sr.; two brothers, Fredrick “Shorty” Troutman, Leon Troutman and three sisters, Margaret Lockwood, Mary Mayson and Doris Cooper.
Mrs. McGill is survived by her three sons, Lowell Stephen “Steve” (Janet) McGill, Jr., Mark (Suzanne) McGill and Bryan Wade (Farrah) McGill, all of Atmore.; six grandchildren, Whitney Maholovich, Jordan Jones, Amanda Strawbridge, Haden McGill, Rease McGill, Wade McGill; seven great-grandchildren, Grady Jones, Will Strawbridge, Corbin Strawbridge, Thatcher McGill, Molly Jones, Jase Maholovich, Norah McGill, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Houston Carlos Gohagin “Gunslinger”, aged 81, passed away Friday, October 25, 2024 in Huxford, Ala. He was a native of Atmore, Ala. He retired from Exxon Mobile and also served in the National Guard. He was an avid hunter and fisherman spending countless hours at the river. He loved Alabama football, gardening and outdoor cookouts attracting a crowd to his skinning shed. Above all, he cherished time with his family and his best buddy, Brodie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard (Lucille McKinley) Gohagin; one daughter, Carla Wasdin; three brothers, Howard Gohagin, Buford Gohagin and Rayford Gohagin. Mr. Gohagin is survived by his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Faye Gohagin of Huxford; one daughter, Neely (Gary) Baggett of Walnut Hill, Fla.; one brother, Milford (Darlene) Gohagin of Atmore; three grandchildren, Mallory Crysell, Brittany Shamblin, Kasey Drew; seven great-grandchildren, Brodie Rolin, Autumn Rolin, Corbin Crysell, Caleb Shamblin, Holden Drew, Houston Drew, Hardy Drew other relatives and friends.

Adren Wyleen “Joe” Stacey
Mr. Adren Wyleen “Joe” Stacey, age 86, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024. He was born in Monroeville, Ala. Adren was known to most as “Joe” until he became Poppie. His careers in his 86 years included, Strand Theater as a young teenager; A&P; was a farmer; drove a milk truck; became a business owner of Stacey’s Grocery, Stacey’s Drive-In and Drew’s Army Store; retired from Winn Dixie after 10 years. He then took up landscaping yards and took pride in his work. He served in the Army National Guard for many years. He was a member of the Gideons International and a faithful member of Brooks Memorial Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Mazie Stacey; one brother and six sisters.
Mr. Stacey is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Martha Bartley Stacey; son Quincy (Caroline) Stacey; one daughter, Faith (Larry) Miller; two grandchildren, Megan Miller and Elliott Miller; many nieces and nephews and one grand-dog, Bella.

Franklin “Buddy” Biggs
Mr. Franklin “Buddy” Biggs, age 80, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Peterman, Ala. to the late Otto and Katie (Brantley) Biggs. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He had worked at Monsanto earlier in his life, then went to work at Alabama River Pulp where he was a Bleach Plant Operator. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed raising cattle, hunting, fishing, sitting on his porch drinking coffee and watching the hummingbirds. He was an avid Alabama football fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances Marie Lambert Biggs and his sisters, Alice Faye Biggs and Sybil Ann Biggs.
Mr. Biggs survived by his two sons, Dennis Biggs and Rodney (Lisa) Biggs, both of Atmore; one brother, Thomas “Tommy” Biggs of Minnesota; his grandchildren, Heather (Jeff) Weaver, Kristen (Kenny) Biggs and Tiffany (Paul) Adams; great-grandchildren, Britton (Emma) Morris, Brayden Blackwell, Gracie Weaver, Kamryn Blackwell, Kaylee Adams and Bryant Adams, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ricky S. Wiggins
Ricky S. Wiggins, age 76, passed away October 11, 2024 in Monroeville, Alabama. Ricky was the firstborn son of Rayford S. and Ellie Wiggins and was blessed with a younger brother, Lamar. He was born into a large extended family who gave love and support his entire life.
Ricky lived a rich and fulfilling life, growing up in Cantonment, Florida. He was a people person as evidenced by his many friends made during his lifetime. People were never strangers, just new friends. Ricky loved hunting, fishing, but most of all, just getting on his tractor or other equipment and working outside plowing or cleaning or whatever the day brought.
In 1970 Ricky married the love of his life, Becky Wiggins with whom he shared 54 years. Believe it or not this was the young lady down the street four houses. Though not blessed with children, they had a wonderful life together, traveling and in later life working together in his construction business. Ricky constructed hundreds of homes in Pensacola and Lillian, AL area.
The most important thing in Rick’s life was his family. He was blessed with parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins who were life brothers and sisters. What a wonderful life it was growing up. A special treat for him were his nephews and niece and then later his great nieces and nephews. They were greatly loved and spoiled which was his job as Uncle Ricky.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Ellie Wiggins and his brother-in-law Billy Burt. He is survived by his wife Becky, his brother Lamar (Jennifer), his sisters-in-law Cathy (John) and Charlza Burt. His nephews Curtis Wiggins (Abby), Joshua Huelsbeck (Ashley), and two nieces Carla Gilmore (Jacob) and Jenny Leirer (Danny) along with 2 great nephews and 4 great nieces.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Cantonment with visitation from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. and a service to immediately follow.

Malfert “LaShon” Gainey
Mr. Malfert “LaShon” Gainey, age 57, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024. He was born to Marilyn Gainey and Malfert Shaw. He was an Escambia County High School graduate. He was an employee for the City of Atmore performing custodial duties at the City Hall.
He was preceded in death by his mother; grandparents, Aubrey Grimes and Ceola-Gainey-Wesley and great-grandmother, Ruby Gainey.
Mr. Gainey is survived by his father; three brothers, William (Tina) Gainey, Darrin (Andrea) Gainey and Jeremy Gainey; great-aunt, Betty Flavors and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
