Carolyn Fay Parker

Mrs. Carolyn Fay Parker (Bailey), aged 82, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024 in Tallahassee, Fla. She was born in Ardmore, Ala., residing in Evergreen, Ala. and thirty-six years and Bratt, Fla. for twenty-six years. She was employed with Steven Roberts Manufacturing many years before retirement. She found joy in embroidery, reading, gardening and pruning. She loved sitting down to watch wrestling, football, or a good western with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, William Ralph Parker.

Mrs. Parker is survived by her two sons, Wendell Ralph (Katy) Parker and David “Wayne” (Kristin) Parker, all of Tallahassee; seven grandchildren, Hayley Parker, Mason Parker, Matt Parker, Kylee Parker, Luke Lambert, Chase L0ambert, Lila Parker; her brother, Kenneth Bailey and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside and burial services will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 12:30 p.m.at Godwin Cemetery with Rev, Henry Johnson officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.

Nelwyn Norris Jeter

Mrs. Nelwyn Norris Jeter, age 92, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024 in Bayou La Batre, Ala. She was born in Coffeeville, Ala. and has resided in Bayou La Batre the past 45 years. She worked as a seamstress for many years. She loved crocheting and making afghans for all her grandchildren; enjoyed sewing; loved her flowers most of all she loved mowing her own grass. She was a very avid reader; spent many hours doing crossword puzzles and greatly enjoyed all the time she could spend with family and having big family gatherings. She had an amazing sense of humor and enjoyed watching Daniel O’ Donnell sing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph K. (Katie Velma Kirkham) Norris; husband, Carl Jackson Jeter; two grandchildren, David Alton Tillery, Jr. and Danielle Elizabeth Anderson; one great-grandchild, Madison Marie Lamkin; one sister, Josephine Mullins and one brother, Eldred Norris.
Mrs. Jeter is survived by her three sons, A. C. Jeter of Semmes, Ala., Fred Logue of Byhalia, Miss. and J. J. Jeter of Grand Bay, Ala.; five daughters, Alice Stortz of Lake City, Fla., Teresa King of Lauderdale, Miss., Charlotte Thacker of Greenville, Ala., Freida (Ray) Lowery, of Atmore, Ala. and Carla (Philip) Anderson, Jr. of Cuthbert, Ga; twenty-seven grandchildren; sixty-nine great-grandchildren; twenty great-great-grandchildren other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 3 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery.

Marilyn Strickland Ward

Ward

Mrs. Marilyn Strickland Ward, age 85, lifelong resident of Walnut Hill, Fla.  passed away Friday, October 4, 2024.  She was born on to Elliott and Gladys Wiggins Strickland.  She was a graduate of Ernest Ward High School and a lifelong member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Royce Ward and two of her siblings, Don Strickland and Mary Lou Faircloth Wiggins.

Mrs. Ward  is survived by her children, Brett (Susan) Ward  and Luanne Henderson , all of Walnut Hill, Horace (Lisa) Ward of Birmingham, Ala., Scott (Beth) Ward of Spring Hill; her sisters, Louise Bryan of Pensacola, Fla. and Sharee Godwin of Spanish Fort, Ala.; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren along with extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 3 p.m. at Walnut Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Bridges and Rev. James Boyd officiating.  Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Heath Ward, Eric Ward, Zach Ward, Jake Ward, Benjamin Ward and Russ Ward.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Faircloth, Lonnie Wilson, Bill Strickland, Gary Bryan, Chuck Bryan, Rob Faircloth, Jerry Poulsen, Roy Glen Ward, Harry Ward, Keith Cauley and Kiley Godwin.

The family will receive friends held Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 2 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. at Walnut Hill Baptist Church.

Terry Louis Elkins 

Elkins

Mr. Terry Louis Elkins, age 80, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024. He was a U.S Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War and later retired from Ford Motor Company in Louisville, Ky.  He was born in Bedford, Indiana to Thelma Rose and Wayne Edgar Elkins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Joan Hutchins, Larry Elkins and Jerry Elkins. 

Mr. Elkins is survived by his two daughters, Erica (Donald) Little of Atmore and Kimberly (Rodney) Johnson of Perdido, Ala.; two sisters, Lorretta Brock of Jeffersonville, Ind. and Wanda (J.C.) Wright of Seymour, Ind.; one brother, Garry (Lisa) Elkins of Medora, Ind.; six grandchildren, Joshua Husband, Joseph (Whitney) Husband and Paul Lawson, Jr., all of Atmore, Meredith (Mark) Morrow of Perdido, Ala., Matthew Lawson of LaGrange, Ky. and Kerven (Casey) Little of Pensacola, Fla.; great-grandchildren in birth order, Keegan Little, Naomie Lawson, Mark Jr, Mia and Marie Morrow, Zayne Lawson, Rowan and Grayson Husband, and Miranda Morrow. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gene King and Pastor Glenn Weber officiating. Interment will follow in Serenity Gardens in Atmore with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Clara Eloise Copeland

Mrs. Clara Eloise Copeland, age 84, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Monday, October 7, 2024. She was born in Booneville Ala. to Herbert (Carrie Boone) Caraway. She knew the value of hard work from picking cotton to working at the potato shed for the Frisco railroad. She later followed in her father’s footsteps and drove a school bus for over 40 years. She loved dancing; being outdoors, working in her yard; floating on the river fishing from a canoe. She loved going to yard sales and enjoyed the idea of having the biggest yard sale of her own. Her passion for helping others, being a role model “Ms. Eloise” for her kids on the bus and her own children and grandchildren is why she was loved by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lloyd Gary Copeland, Steven Sinclair and James Edward Brown; one son, Mark Anthony Brown; one grandson, Cody Brown and son-in law, David Dees.
Mrs. Copeland is survived by her three sons, Blane Charles (Pamela) Brown of Foley, Ala., Bobby Edward (Wanda) Brown of Costa Rica and Lloyd Wayne (Brandy) Copeland of Atmore; one daughter, Marilyn Dees of Salem, UT; one brother James Caraway, of Atmore; two sisters, Louise Caraway of Atmore  and Mary Hamby of Ovett, Miss.; five grandchildren, Blane Nicole Weaver, Shania Brown, Josh Brown, Robbie Brown, Donnie Brown; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Pastor James Henry officiating. Burial will follow at Little River Baptist Cemetery 1823 AL-59 Uriah.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from Noon until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.

Hosea Harrison “Sandy” Sanspree, Jr.

Mr. Hosea Harrison “Sandy” Sanspree, Jr., age 60, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024 in Atmore, Ala. surrounded by his family at his bedside. He was a lifelong resident of Atmore; was a dedicated Auburn University Football enthusiast; devoted numerous hours to outdoor activities such as hunting and visiting the creek, where he savored his time indulging in watermelon. He cherished the moments shared with his loved ones and close friends. He enjoyed watching western films and tuning in to ME TV for entertainment.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hosea Harrison Sanspree, Sr. and brother, Anthony Todd Sanspree.

Mr. Sanspree is survived by his mother, Gloria Jean Sanspree of Atmore; three sons, Brannon (Danielle) Sanspree of Century, Fla., Tyler (Kaylee) Sanspree of Canoe, Ala. and Tanner Sanspree of Bay Minette, Ala.; one daughter, Jessica Sanspree of Mobile, Ala.; one sister, Anna Tingle of Perdido, Ala.; six grandchildren, Isabella, Sophia, Caden, Kalli, Trinnity and Baxlee; wife of many years, Paula Sanspree; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 11, 2024 at Noon at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Rev. Joe White and Bro. Michael Roley officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.

Mrs. Mary Dennis, age 98, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at her home.
