The Strand Theatre is hosting a karaoke contest called Alabama Idol in August. Winners for week 2 are Brandon Donerson was the Judges Choice winner with $100.00 prize. Velma Jackson-Wilkins, left, of New York was in Atmore recently to attend a funeral. She ran into an old friend, Larry Forney. Forney was serving on the Atmore Area Hall of Fame Committee earlier this year when Jackson-Wilkins was inducted. Sadly, she was out of the country and couldn’t attend the induction ceremony in May.
